Most people like the sparrows - but I didn't. The motor/gearbox was pretty dissapointing - I'd go with another kit for the price.

the GWS and SIG kits I have are a better value IMO.

just my $0.02

I've got 2 crazy sparrows(rip)and enjoyed them alot.Loved doing outside/inside loops and inverted flight the most I'll agree with the comments about the motor setup(acrodrive350)left alot to be desired. If you use the MP Jet you want be disappointed,I'm using the 25/35-20MKII in my Acrophat and like it alot. One problem I had on both sparrows was the landing gear coming loose,I converted both into bellylanders with a AUW around 14oz. and they flew great(added 3M heavy Motorcross decal tape to the bottom of fuselage)also added some extra epoxy to the firewall mount sides.
Specs from Backyardfleyer mag.spring 2002 issue.
LAZY/CRAZY
Wingspan 42.5/38.2
Wingarea 300/251 sq.in
Wingloading 5.2/6.7 oz./sq.ft.
Pilot Skill basic/intermediate

BTW the Crazy Sparrow was my first aileron trainer and I had no problem with it.Previously flown planes at that time were sig rascal, tiger moth and the original FBird.

Your mileage may vary

Actually, the Fatty Sparrow is the better of planes. Being light and with ailerons it fits right in there with 3d if you change the motor. Even with the motor from the kit, the plane will lift off the grass in 5 feet or so. I put ailerons on the top and bottom and was astonished at its performance. But I agree the LG needs beefing up on all the models.
