ZTW Spider Series Multi-rotor ESC's Now Available

Hi Everybody,
Sorry to come barging in here with some spammy sounding post, but I think alot of you guys are really going to be interested in this. I'm Tim from Quantum Hobby, and we sell ZTW ESC's (among other things ).

Anyway, ZTW has come up with a pretty nice controller just for the MR crowd called the Spider Series. SimonK, opto-coupled, no bec, 400Hz internal, accepting PWM input up to 600Hz. Not really groundbreaking as far as the feature set- but wait- check out the price! $13.5 for a 30A Opto MR controller? Basically ZTW is giving you everything you need, and nothing you don't, and passing the savings on.

Here's a link: http://www.quantumhobby.com/ZTW-Spid...-ESC-s/726.htm

Anyway, thought you guys might like to know. If this announcement post is unwanted, let me know and I'll take it down. I hate spam too, but I've been around these boards a long time, and in this case, I thought this would be news of particular interest to this forum.

-Tim

Hello,

Is boot loader enabled, so future firmware ubdates can be achieved by a USB linker?

Thanks,
J

Are they NFET or P/NFET circuits?

Do they use an external oscillator for stability?

In response to the questions in previous posts:
1) No, the boot loader is not enabled- they are non-programmable. If you like simonK, then you're good.
2) The Spider uses NFET circuit
3) Yes, they use an external oscillator, See pic- faint red circle.

Cool. Bootloader would be nice since it allows for easy updates to newer versions of SimonK firmware to address compatibility with some motors or to reverse the direction without having to swap wires (for those who solder rather than use bullet connectors)

If it had bullets soldered to the board I'd buy them.

I use the 30A version on my new 450 quad and really like them alot.
I run 3S on mine tho.
They are in the prop blast so never a cooling problem at all.
I would use them again. :-)

I know this is an old thread, but I plan on flashing these with BLHeli to try and get oneshot out of them.

Let me know how you go. I'm waiting on a response from my supplier to see if it's capable.

Old post but these use bs-nfet if you flash the 20a,30a, and 40a , not sure about the 12a. Dont want anyone smoking them.

Easiest to use a HK atmel socket with a usbasp and kkflashtool or blhelisuite to flash with . Make to include a bootloader when you flash so in the future you can use the signal lead to change parm. or flash something else.

I used the ztw spider 30a flashed with latest simonk with compwm enabled which supposedly enables oneshot125. With oneshot125 enabled on a CC3D , the difference was very noticeable and positive, actually huge difference. . Super smooth, faster descents, higher PID's without low or full throttle oscillations. ESC,s and motors never got hot even running full throttle straight up and fly bys with 5s lipos, Sunnysky 2216 1100kv motors with graupner 10x5 props. I've even tried 6s on the same setup but with 9x4.5 APC mr but power was to insane for me to fly LOS, out of sight in a second! FPV would be probably be awesome though.

Havent tried BLheli because Im satisfied with the latest simonk right now, but I see no reason it shouldn't work fine with blheli oneshot125. From what I have gathered these ESC,s are the same as Blueseries opto which are made by ZTW also.

Edit: Good news and will save a bunch of work. Looks like the new versions have the bootloader enabled! Thanks for that info Flagstaffmike. Wonder if its on the label or you just have to hook up a usb linker to find out?
