Ultimate RMRC Soldering Jig

This little gem of a jig combines clamps for bullet connectors and various battery connectors, with a rotating arm to hold wires securely while you make some smoke.

Splash

The most "ultimate" soldering jig yet!

There's a number of soldering jigs on the market, ranging from simple billet blocks, to groupings of banana clips at the end of flexible arms; each one does something well, but few do it all. Enter the RMRC Ultimate soldering jig. This little gem of a jig combines clamps for bullet connectors and various battery connectors, with a rotating arm to hold wires securely while you make some smoke.

Taken from RMRC's website: Introducing the best soldering jig available for R/C hobbyists! Aluminum jigs absorb heat and make bullet connectors difficult to solder without cold joints. This material does not absorb the heat and makes soldering a breeze!

Specs:

  • Fully adjustable arm
  • Multiple sizes for bullet connectors with clamp
  • Spaces and clamp for soldering T-plug, EC3, etc
  • Includes bag and stick-on stopper feet

I don't think that's what they would want to say. LOL

I like the "fully adjustable arm". Holds your favorite smoke (cough, cough) while your soldering

That's what they said, taken straight from the website. Allow me to quote the entire sentence:

Aluminum jigs absorb heat and make bullet connectors difficult to solder without cold joints. This material does not absorb the heat and makes soldering a breeze!

Their intent is to say that an aluminum jig pulls the heat from the connector as you solder, increasing the chance of a cold solder joint.

How do you use this jig to solder Deans connectors? I see in the pic that you can hold a Deans plug "sideways" but what about holding it in the other orientation in order to solder the other lead?

There doesn't seem to be any method for clamping the Deans plug with the positive tab mounted horizontal...?
