Oh, man!

Fantastic! Love your carbon work - looks great. What is choice of 70mm fan? With that nice ducting, something very high speed I hope!

Please keep posting, anxious to see finished product. Who made the fuselage? - or is that one of your own? Finally, what is WS?

Great post - thanks for the great pictures too!

Hello, the kit is from here:
http://www.bzmbau.de/f104-starfighter.html
It is a minifan with 1W40 on 5/6S. Static thrust on testrun was 1.8/2.4kg installed.
I changed the wings to 10 degrees anhedral. The wings are fully glassed. I have some more pictures of the building stages concerning wing mount and ducting. The blue foam was from a pool-noodle (idea from my girlfriend).

Thanks to you guys,
it is/was a lot of work to convert it to 70mm. And i really fear the maiden-flight. I have already installed the minifan/motor and elevator, the aileron-servos, rx and battery will be the next. I think that i will perform maiden-flight on 5S due to lowest AUW. Stay tuned.

Awesome work. Will this be bungee'd or you going for retracts?

Thanks,
i will launch it via bungee. Retracts are possible, a former set is part of the kit (picture #7 first post). Maybe the next one will be with retracts. Here is a link:

Hi.

Your model looks pretty good. Good luck with it. Keep the speed up while in flight.

I have fabricated a 1/10 scale F-104 off scale 3 views since it is one of my all time favorite and not too many at the airfields.

It is for a 90mm or a Wren 54 (overkill) sized turbine.

The trashed pic one was the test flight one. It flew on a 6s, Changesun 12/90mm with around 1200 watts i believe. Came in at around 6lbs and we launched it. It is designed to have functioning gear later.

It flew with no intake ducting, only a bell mouth. I have it's first test flight on youtube under Scalecraft F-104. Mostly for the CG location.
I have not put a wing profile on the fuse to allow me options on my wing. My wing is pretty thin a this point, but i think i can make it thinner and therefore faster.

I have a post in this form for more info on my model if interested. I have laid up 3 at this point. One for my buddy"s test model and the one with orange tape as my trainer with gear and real power with ducting.

Hi, thanks. Your 104 project sounds very interesting. I guess you will install leading edge flaps (slats?) and flaps (variable cambered wing?) like you did in your BVM F-16. Where can i find more about your 104? Michael
