PowerUp Toys Adds Awesomeness to Paper Airplanes

PowerUp Toys launched with a singular aspiration: to test the limitations of timeless homemade toys with technology, to go beyond the possibilities that have confined the imaginations of kids, their parents, and their parents’ parents for oh-so long. Remember learning to fold your first paper boat, car, or airplane? Imagine that boat not merely drifting, but cruising across a pond; paper cars racing down the sidewalk; paper planes soaring high above the trees. Whimsical, perhaps beyond belief, but not impossible. With this, PowerUp Toys has propelled homemade paper toys into the modern world… literally!

The Smart aerial unit transforms your homemade paper airplanes into a controllable aircraft that can soar for up to 10 minutes. All you need is a Smart Phone with Bluetooth 4.0 technology the newly developed flight control app and some paper for the airplane. PowerUp™ 3.0 can attach easily to any paper airplane made of standard A4 or 8.5”X11” copier paper. The innovative design makes flying surprisingly easy. Ages 12+ Available August 2013.

That's a pretty cool idea. I have an icopter, I was just wondering how long it would be for an airplane version.

I think I need one of these to annoy the folks in the office. Lol.

Nice write up Jason. Congrats and welcome to RCGroups!
This looks like a lot of fun and some of the free flight products look like a great way to get kid's interested in flight and eventually RC! I wish their website had an email list for updates on the 3.0 release.

Are there replacement motors for this? I would hate to buy a whole new one just cause the motor is dead.

As a trainer, this is idea is cheap and easy to replace the plane. These will be fun to fly inside the house . Ads for motors are cheap in the RC classifieds, anyone could use chopsticks or a plastic rod and come up with something similar. I read about these in the Wallstreet Journal so I'll load the link in case someone wants to read about it.

I got mine today and it flies. I was flying in front of my house and it was breezy so I did not get a real feel for what it can do.
