Blade nQX FC board on mQX, Ladybird & X4 size quads

Hi All,

This thread is dedicated to using the nQX board on other quads.
FC Part no. BLH7601
nQX recommended transmitters

There has been info in the threads below. This thread is to collate hacks/mods/info necessary to adapt this board to other craft.
Blade nQX thread
Blade mQX thread
Frankenquad thread

Lets see what this little FC can do

Daryoon's size comparison blog post

DirtyDovi's Connection Diagram...

mQX Size... FnmQX

It seems the recommendations at this point are the V959 motors are the strongest.

Thanks to Daryoon for the first pics... From This post.
V959 frame and V929 booms.

First flying vid of mQX size I'm aware of is DirtyDovi's converted Syma X1...
Blade Nano QX Syma X1 UFO Hybrid (3 min 34 sec)

And his build...
Hybrid Quad Build (2 min 31 sec)

Woodsturning's vid post...
FnmQX Frankenquad (1 min 47 sec)

Daryoon's FnmQX vids...
Stability mode...
Blade Nano QX on mQX Style Frame (2 min 44 sec)

Agility mode...
Blade Nano QX mQX Agility Mode (3 min 19 sec)

Here's mine as a PNP...
You'll need these as motor wires. Switch polarity of plugs at the FC end.

First vid here... Second Vid below...
FnmQX Test 02 (2 min 45 sec)

Ladybird Size... FnQX

Frankenquad recommendations seem to be...
H36 Frame
U816 Booms - There's also talk of the InfraX booms with 8.5mm motors being more powerful.
YD717 Props
Syma X1 motors (if you want to solder)
(Please correct me if I'm wrong)
Daryoon's been weighing parts... Here... and... Here...

Daryoon's FnQX build here...
Blade Nano QX FrakenQuad (5 min 55 sec)

Massive RC Frankenquad

Jason4207's FqV2 build... Flipping motor connectors to top of board and reverse polarity.

EArHog's vintage FQ build...

And its evolution to FC underneath

Mine as PNP...

Husban X4 / Traxxas QR1... FnQX4

From MIDNCOCO's posts here & here on the nQX thread...

Daryoon & Jason's Pro/Con Summary...

To, to summarize what you'll gain...
1. nQX Stability mode's flight characteristics.
2. Ability to use with DSM2/DSMX compatible radio for a more robust signal.
3. True acro mode with manual flipping, loops, etc.
4. Bail out button.
5. Fast pirouette rate.
With the Agility and Stability mode switch, you get two quad in one.
nQX board is attached w/ DS-tape, so vibrations are not transferred to it as much from the frame.

What's the draw backs?

1. Higher initial cost for nQX FC @ ~$30
2. Unproven flier because not enough people with the FnQX in hand.
3. Complexity associated with having to solder on a new battery lead to use the larger lipo.
QX board is attached w/ DS-tape, so it can get a little loose sometimes.

I really want to blame Soma for me being here... But this one is totally Daryoon's fault posting the FQ mod with the nqx FC over on helifreak lol

Have a h36 frame and arms, few sets (14) of YD717 props shipping from BG can't wait to start messing with this setup

Nice little build. It looks like it's crazy maneuverable. I may have to build something like this.

Nate,

The NQX chip in the X1 is AMAZING!

I absolutely loved the X1, but wished it could get crazier.. [and more stable]
Since I don't have a high-end TX yet, I thought that I'd swap the NQX chip
so that I could just use the BLADE TX [Which provides better / higher rates]

The vid above will show how it flies.
Unfortunately, only in stability-mode, because in agility mode,
I'm sure it would go up, then straight back down to the ground in a fiery crash..
I'm a newb-pilot.

Hi guys, I love this "modification" threads, I hate stock aircrafts haha.

What is the price of the nQX board?...and what protocol uses?

Since this thread started,
I've also just ordered a 1SQ [ATF - Almost Ready to Fly]
I'll be swapping the X1 chip into that. It'll be my 'mini-flipper'.

Starting right now - I'll be editing together a vid for you guys
showing the progress pics of the NXQ/X1 Hybrid build,
the vid above [will be added to it] and, it'll show a clip of my POV setup..

*Thumbs Up*

Sam -

**EDIT / UPDATE** Here's a vid of the 1SQ - X1 Hybrid / Combo. Enjoy.

Helimax 1SQ Syma X1 [Hybrid] (5 min 35 sec)

And here's a few pics of the quad: with and without the canopy:

If I'm not mistaken,
This might be the NQX chip that we'll be looking for..
I stumbled across it on eBay earlier today..

They bind with Spektrum,
so I'm assuming 2.4G DSM2 or DSMX

Hi Nate,

The frame handles very well for acro. The drive to use this FC is because the mQX FC has some weird wobbles at full throttle, needing throttle endpoint to be set to 85%. I'm hoping this FC cleans it all up.

This is a V929 frame with the mQX board and 85% throttle. I want the nQX combo to beat this

Haha man that's the only way to learn is crashes to the ground, well for me that's how many landings were.
The video does justice, but I agree in agility mode I bet it is crazy!

Yes that's it. Part number BLH7601. I'll put it OP.

mQX binds as DSMX 22ms, so nQX should at least be this. Hope its gone to 11ms but who would notice really?
