What type of balancer does it take to balance a fan? Thatís probably been discussed many times but I would like a link to a good write-up.

These fans are so small that you can't balance them conventionally...NitroCharged has a video showing how to balance these fans...Click on his screen name and you should be able to find the video covering this...In a nutshell---It's trial and error using electrical tape to find the heavy blade(s) and remove material at the hub on the heavy side...All balancing is done with the fan intact and able to run...No removal of the rotor is necessary...After you see the vid you will understand...Here's the link to the vid...And thank goodness for guys like NitroCharged!!!

You can buy 3S packs from RCBabbel here on the forums, They have the UMX connector and your choice of balance tap.

--------

Update on my Habu.

I mentioned before how bad the balance was on my original fan. Well after getting the replacement fan I got a real shock when I removed the original!

I installed the new fan and it is silky smooth. It is a huge difference in power as well.

I also drilled out the cooling holes in the motor mount area that someone linked here a couple days ago. Hopefully it helps keep the motor cool.

Stop putting little rocks into your Habu's intakes. It's not nice.

No, I haven't as yet. No indication of motor or electronics overheating, using RCBabble 325, 70C TP packs. 5-1/4 minute flight times the norm, I haven't had a SLVC or LVC "event" as yet. Cleaned up intakes and exhaust tip with some 600 grit silicon carbide paper. Not sure if it really had any effect. The plane flys quite well, thus far, always sans landing gear.

Ingesting mosquitoes made me laugh - that just might be true! Muahaha RC version of bird strikes!

That's a really cool 'sculpture', btw.

No it's not... It's in the middle of a large field, so I know I would want to fly between the leg of that thing and likely crash my UMs.... ( well, it's cool!)

It's not a sculpture it's a scale model! Joel can confirm that.

And RG, yeah that would be pretty cool to try and fly through the legs. I think I'd pay to see the video of that.

Think about it! Somebody could claim that he is the first one to fly an RC model between the legs of a mosquitoe.

Unfortunately it is in Russia. I don't think I have that kind of range or endurance on my Habu!
