Mono wing Tiger Moth

Has anyone ever modified a GWS Tiger Moth into a low wing mono plane? I purchased a used Tiger Moth today from a co-worker and I started thinking of different things to do with it. I am building my first Tiger Moth and I would like to use the old Moth as a test bed for new Ideas. I would like to scrap the top wing and struts and use the original bottom wing or create a new wing. Does anyone see any problems with this idea? I am new to RC flying and I will not be performing this modification until I gain more experience on the stock Tiger Moth.

um other then you just doubled your wing loading it could work out ok. You would probably need to fly at full throttle.

I flew a bone stock tiger moth on kokam 1020Mah lithiums and got 45-60 min flight times. I love that little plane, its so relaxing.

I've seen it on RCU. It worked well, but the pilot reported it flew faster and came in hotter.

There was acutally a monoplane from the tigermoth...it was called the Moth Minor.

GWS4CEO I am going to try to convert a Tiger Moth into a mono wing, but if you do decide to produce this Moth Minor I would be one of the first people ( I hope not the only..) in line to purchase this model. By the way thanks for making it possible for people like me to afford this hobby. Keep up the good work!

I will not recommance you to modify TM to be mono wing.

Get a GWS TM or TM400 now, and fly her as she was!

A few months later, summer or early altum, let's have TM mono.

I did a moth -mono.
I used a wing off a aero bird type plane.
it looked great and performance was out standing (pjs 300)
4 times the speed and very agile. Not for the faint hearted in a breeze. If your wing is gone give it a try.

Hey Mr Lin,
Could you just make another wing available for TM to change to MM.
So we do not have to buy new plane - just new wing.
Perhaps TM kits could come with two types of wings!
2 types of planes to choose from in 1 kit!...
Cool!!!
Hmmm...
Me 109 & 108
Beaver & Staggerwing
Tigermoth & Moth Minor
Zero & George or Oscar
just a thought.

Great Idea!! A new wing would be great for those of us who want to do the Mono wing conversion on the Tiger Moth.
