Can I use an r/c car battery for an r/c plane??

Is it possible to use a battery pack that is made for a car on a plane?? I might have to use a different connecter but thats not a big deal. Will this work or can I only use a pack that is made for an airplane.

The pack I'm thinking of is a 6 cell (7.2v) 1500 mah

Without knowing the cell size or pack weight I would say, you can use that pack, but, unless you have a big motor on a light plane it won't work out very well. Those packs are way too heavy for a most planes.

Depending on the plane & power, sure.

There was a time that Sub C nicads were the only packs able to handle the higher current of 550 can motors, and a bunch of manufacturers put out planes like the Goldberg Electra and such for those motor/ battery combos.

I used an 8 cell Nicd from my sons R/C car in my GWS Beaver all the time. Added a JST plug to a spare adapter from an old charger so I didn't have to modify either the charger, battery, or ESC.

Was it a sub c pack 1500, 2000, or was it a pack from a R/S car/

It was a AA 1100 Nicd pack from my son's R/C Hummer, back before they started placing the batts in hard shells. This one was shrink wraped just like ours. I think the bottom line is that a battery is a battery. If it matches as far as cell count, mah rating, and weight, then it will work in a plane.

This is the type battery pack used in the Hobbico Superstar EP. I used my 7.2 volt 6 cell 1500mah.that worked better than the 7 cell that came with it. the plane had a 550 can motor.
