25" span Cessna 172 - Hacked Nikko toy!
This was the first plane I ever had. I loved it, but soon realized it should have had better controls. Finally, now, 14 years later I have taken it down from the shelf and rebuildt it.
She has a weight of about 4 oz without motor, esc and battery.
AUW will be around 8.2 oz and she will fly rather fast. (over 7 m/s stall)
This should be a lot of fun. Hope the wing doesn't snap.
Yes yes, I know it's way large prop for this plane, but it's the best prop for the speed 300 I have. Besides, it will hover!

I got a lot of remarks on the large props and finally agreed that a 7x4 would do the job and allow ok flight-times.
I tested it today and am super-psyched! It flies very well and handles moderate to high winds very well. It was 16 mph winds today and against the wind, it crept forward, but from the wind, it shot ahead like a rocket... Controls were ok. They could have been a tad better, but there were no problems handeling it against the wind.
2.5 mins of flying used 100 mAh of my 250 mAh pack so it looks like it is right on the sweet spot.
Here's a small 2mb mpeg of one of the flights:
The video is taken at my favourite flying field about 5 mins from my house. It was -7°C and the wind was as mentioned about 16 mph. (We didn't stay long.) The sun was creeping down the horizon and was gone an hour or so later.
All Cessna's should fly off into the sunset don't ya think ?
