It's way UP there, for sure. Just fantastic craftsmanship, and probably the most original frame out there.

Are you taking pre-orders on this frame? I'll take one and I don't care how long it takes. I can build it myself. Just want the frame. If possible, I would like shorter arms for a 300 size motor to motor across diagonally. Doesn't have to be exactly 300mm. Just close to that would be great.

Please let me know, and sorry if my question has already been answered. I'll be happy to pay in full upon pre-ordering. Lead time matters not. I'm in no hurry.

Best,
Chris

Thank you guys!!

@ bobepine

there is no "preorders" as it would normally be...
My models are made only by order and they are sold before they are made

After ordering a model it will take some time to make the model before sending it...
It usually takes from 3-15 days and I exactly (+/- 1 day) tell the customer how many days it takes to his order...
(at this moment it takes around 12 to 15 days....)

so it kinda turns out that all models are pre-ordered you just have to ask

about the 300mm size...

I guess that 300mm is because 8'' props..?
the smallest size for this quad would be 360mm with 8'' props
Anything less than that would not be good due to the size of hull (200mm from tube to tube)

but there is another version of my model called DeX Mini ... it looks different and the size is 305mm from shaft to shaft
and Mini is also made for good bashing

about the build....

(before the postman)
I found another equal 12A ESC...and the other one I got from a friend...

so that the model is kinda RTF

....now I'm going to the field to see what will happen in the air

OK. The mini looks great, too. I'll send you a PM now. I never get to play anymore. Always just working building quads. This one is for me to play.

Best,
Chris

it flies!!

The wind was quite strong and I've only flown one and a half pack
X orientation is very strange feeling for me.....I will definitely need some time to get used to X.... because at the moment I have to think a lot when I fly
but it definitely has advantages over + quad.... flips are nicer

I need to change a little some MWC parameters... but the values were almost perfect

and the most important thing..... ESC's heatsinks work perfectly!!
they are barely warm to the touch

DeX Carbon Quad (1 min 54 sec)

I skipped a few steps.....so here they are

ESC mounting
as I said before heatsinks work great and I even think that half the size of current ones would be enough

I was in a hurry to fly it....so a small mess of wires was created
RC antennas are inside despite carbon fibers because this model will not be for FPV

also I've added another ESC (turnigy plush 10A) just for BEC...
because BEC on 12A ESC becomes quite hot when used

cover is mounted with Velcro
adhesive Velcro tape is placed on the cover and on the bottom of the hull

It is quite important that the tape from below is in one piece otherwise, it will eventually fall off..

and in the end a lot of foam to create a very soft spot for the battery
...very important thing for impact lovers

RTF weight at the end is higher than expected.... but it's all my fault
I've put very thick and long wires from battery to ESC's...
14 AWG and 22cm long x 8 pieces
and of course they are all black again... I guess lightning will not strike twice in the same place

RTF weight with 3S turnigy 2200mAh 40C is 752g
I can reduce the weight with thinner wires and distribution board...perhaps even to 50g less
but for now I'll leave it as it is and fly it in all conditions

.

How is the battery attached, is it just pushed down against the foam by the cover?

Are the electronics not moving inside? is it just rate gyros you are using?

I have build my Dex with quite different specifications http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...&highlight=dex and do my best not to crash it. I like it a lot.

Good tips for taping the tubes, I have to try this, now they flex too much.

Hi Denis, your Dex Micro CF is a work of Art!

Due to procrastinations... I just finished my Micro frame, and she's pretty sweet indeed and a real beauty in-the-air. I will have to test 3-blade props for more lift/attitude control, but 2bladed worked pretty well on her maiden so far.

Maiden flight with temporary doubled loose O-ring on RF motor. relaxed test-session because of spectators sneakn-up on me.

Awesome guys! Quick question: where exactly do you find CW and CCW GWS DD 8040 props? I can only find the CW, I googled for hours. Thanks.

Update:
There they are. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...HCB-08&x=0&y=0

I'm glad you like it!

yes, the battery is just pushed down to foam with cover
Electronics does not move, it's glued with double sided tape (white stuff below electronics)
and the foam is also glued with tape to the hull bottom

I have MPU6050 (gyro+ acc) but I'm using only gyro

a blue quad... that color is rare
and I have to say... you made a very, very neat build

Thank you!

if this was "relaxed test-session" .... I can not wait to see the real thing

Did you try to use small zip ties instead of O-rings.... it is much safer

yes, these are my favorite props

they are bad, very bad.... some of them are really badly bent directly from the bag but that's easy to fix with the hands
original GWS are much better quality but no CW if I'm not mistaken....

the only advantage is that they are very resistant to everything
