Budget FPV Quadrocopter

Hi everyone.

After 2 years of flying foamies I want to try something new. I'm ready to spend 400USD tops to build an FPV quadrocopter. I have the camera, the radio (Spektrum DX6i), the charger, the monitor for fpv. Basically all I need is the quadrocopter and fpv receiver and transmitter. What is the best bang for the buck setup? My priority is stability, not speed.

Well some might disagree but dji now sells a naza lite controller
That and the f450 flame wheel motor / esc kit is a straight forward set up
The naza is super stable and very easy to fly.
If you want to go cheaper there's always those
Kits on ebay with the kk board. But if your more interested in flying than crashing I would just spring for the naza .

Bang for your buck, the multi-wii has every other flight controller beat.

Its not newb friendly, but once setup its nearly unbeatable.

If you want, i have a ARF quad for sale in your price range: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1916081

For $50 more I will throw in a 1280mhz video TX/RX combo, should get your FPV'n in a few hours

The F450 frame is not very FPV friendly. There is not alot of room for electronics. And for FPV, you want your vTX as far from the receiver as possible.

Also, crashing is most often pilot error and rarely flight control error. I have seen plenty of Naza's crash.

Thanks for the offer subaru4wd, but I want to buy it new. I want a stable platform for learning and FPV. A 450mm is quite small. All the gear would not fit. Even if It would, It would be a huge mess of wires. And I live overseas, so customs taxes would be huge. I want it new. The FPV range hould be about 1km. My radio is a bottleneck here.

My planned setup:
Frame: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ame_550mm.html
Flight controller: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...PS_Module.html
Motors:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ner_Motor.html
ESCs:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...ontroller.html + a programming card.
Props:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...5SF_4_pc_.html
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Rotation_.html
Bullet plugs 30 units http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...IRS_20PC_.html
Some adapters:
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...er_1_set_.html

Still deciding on the Video transmitter/receiver part. And I need an OSD. I'll add a bluetooth module too.

I wouldnt trust the quality control of HobbyKing when it comes to flight controllers. If you look, there's a thread here about that flight controller and some defects in manufacturing.

Also, for OSD, look into the MinimOSD. You can upload custom firmware that makes it compatible with MultiWii.

I would also advise against those props. Look into APC or some Carbon/Nylon props.

Also, that 550 frame has less room on it than a standard 450 frame. The FPV spider is probably the best setup for FPV, as you can put the vTX on one end, and the Receiver on the other.

What flight controller should I use then? My budget is quite limited. The frame is this? http://www.goodluckbuy.com/fiber-gla...lticopter.html I'll take note about minimosd.

I have that frame, and its worth the price. Expect to wait 2 weeks to receive it.

What's the optimal prop for such setup? What vrx and vtx should I choose? Are flashed esc's worth it? Or I'll be good with Turnigy Plush'es?

SimonK escs are worth it.

Props depend on what motors you run.

So the ESCs should be these? http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...C_3A_UBEC.html

The motors I'm planning to run are these, I don't know which props are good and cheap. I'll need a lot of them at first.

The VRX and VTX:

I'll add 6dbi Wifi antenna's I have on both.
