Build Log
Chris Craft Sterling Semi Enclosed Cruiser

This is a refurb of a Sterling Chris Craft 32’ Super Deluxe Enclosed Cruiser.

Its in the "Build Log" category as there is currently no formal place to list a refurbishment of an Old model.

This one was found on ebay, seemed no one else wanted it but me ( ).

It will be redone as this type of model or possibly another similar old CC.

The stuffing tube will stay, I have a brass prop. shaft that’s an adequate fit.

Step one is to get it cleaned up, all interior paneling out so an evaluation can be made.

Signs of water stain aft so the inner transom cover will have to be removed for inspection.

Two forward solid walled bulkheads were cut away so the inner for planking can be sealed and strengthened.

The Entire inner part of the model will be cleaned and get at least one coat of Zpoxy 30 minute glue.

The exterior will be completely refinished and glassed.

Seller said it was built by a family member in the early 60's and had been in storage since Kennedy was President.

Plans have a hand written date of “61”.

Hi Tim, One of our members had one of these boats as his main runner. He built it back in the late 60's. When He couldn't get around too well anymore he gave it to Chuck to use as a plug.

Is your rebuilt one going to look like this when it grows up?

You know that we have high expectations now after seeing your other builds.

Hi Tim, He is still finishing up on your express cruiser. Last word was they did the final mud on the hull and just had to sand it out. Then the mold would be made.

There shouldn't be any hurry for the Deluxe Cruiser since you have one in your collection. By my count you have three boats in process now. Just how many work benches do you have?

Tooo Many ???

The fleet may be getting too big ~

More than 4 in progress, one Big Commander done, a stack of unbuilt kits ( a return to Tugs is inevitable )

Two benches, while glue drying on one, work at the other ( a matter of efficiently using one's time you know ).

May be time to sell the Motor Life Boat, dont seem to get it in the water much now ~

Dumas did this one "back in the day"... you might find one, or the drawings out there...

Looks like a clean, solid SE project you have there-

Ah! there's the difference!

"while glue drying on one, work at the other sip a #25 and reflect on progress."
