XRB ka-50

For years I have dreamed of owning and flying an RC Ka-50 Black shark. This Christmas I got an XRB my first heli. After 4 sets of blades I learned to hover tail in with realative comfort so while I waited for replacement blades to come I began building a paper KA-50 fuselage. It is my first heli, my first paper model, and my first fuslage all in two weeks. I knew in advance I would be lucky to get off the ground and that I would be eqally as luck if the fuselage looked less than crappy. fearing I had made a heavy fuselage after 70+ hours of work I decided to test fly it before finishing several details. glad I did because she is very tail heavy but I can get her off the ground and can control her "sort of" her

because she is so tail heavy and requires almost full forward cyclic to keep her level I will not finish her out. I added weight to the nose and that helpped and it still gets off the ground but I don't want to stress my machine with an inefficient fuselage so I am not planning to do any more detail to this fuse. here is a picture of me and my little guy learning to fly

In conclusion I want to give a shout out to hoverup
You make it look easier than it is and I want to thank you for the inspiration that aided in attaining a long time dream. As school permits I'll work on a new fuse, but for now it is back to the grind
until then enjoy this picture its about as good as the detail on my paper model. Whow this is time consuming and fun

Great Job bat!! I know you will find a way to lighten that bad boy and get it flying great. It is fun isn't it, and you are right, card model conversions are very time consuming. Again great work. Keep us posted.

I have been spending months redesigning the ka-50 card model.
Lots of time in photoshop changing the color scheme and redesigning model parts. here is a peek of where I am at. just had to share

Good job! May I say you are doing the right thing.

I have wanted the XRB heli, but found it ridiculous that Hirobo use Lama fuselage (with idle tail rotor!!), not Hoodlum or Helix. The Kamov series 25-50 are the only helies in the world that use XRB. The French Lama has nothing to do with XRB.

It's a shame they don't honour Kamov for this ingenious design.

Here it is I have the mechs fit in the fuselage and have added more detail. When I run down an allen wrench small enough to remove my rotor shaft I will airbrush the red body black to match

the best part though is that it flies, even with the less stable cf blades. it seems balanced but seems to get real bobby when hovering. it will be smooth for a moment and then just bobble real hard and then settle back to stable. I think it may be turbulance deflected off of all the wing surfaces.

There is a lot of little stuff that I will continue to work on but it is time to down grade my obsession, for the sake of my wife and studies. Thanks all for providing me with a place to share my insanity, it would be a lot harder to let go without sharing with someone. Feel free to comment, I just can't promise any more action for a while.

Also I do have dv footage that I could edit to be posted but I have no way of hosting so if anyone just has to see this baby fly and can host then we may be in business
