Thanx guys. His long jacket gives him a very slow stall speed and the design is very tolerant of head size...... Jack's, not mine.

I checked my local Michael's and Hobby Lobby Craft stores for styrofoam Balls

Michaels' have the 8, 10 and the 12" balls and Hobby Lobby have the 10 and 12"
They each have a 40% off coupon off any one item.
You can also get the cones too for the nose and hat

My Michaels only had 10" balls. Have fun!

Bob,

Some of the guys in my RC club mentioned "MPF", Model Plane Foam, and I priced it out at about 1/4 the price of Depron, at my retail level, I wonder if that would be good for you at the wholesale level?

I forgot to mention, the 12" balls at Hobby Lobby craft stores are actually comes in half ball and is hollowed out. Just glue 2 together and you have Jacks head done. Will save lots of work. Print and bring a 40% coupon with you.

Now just have to figure out how to mount the head and make it removable for transport. Any idea would be appreciated

I've experimented with MPF and it is a lot more flexible. For some builds it is great but for Flyguy you would need carbon stiffeners. I would not recommend MPF for Flyguy.

Otto,

Thank you for the evaluation. I will proceed to build "FlyHulk" with my 6mm Depron.

I just have to get my plotter working, and plotters are all new to me. This is a Calcomp 1023, and I have got a driver for Win7, and a USB to serial port interface with 9 pin to 25 pin adapter, but I must now figure out where the signal out is lost. I think I am sending it out, but the plotter doesn't start. It will do a "confidence plot" which is great fun, but it isn't the plot of a Hulk.

Guillermo on Jimmy Kimmel Live

I have not seen the flying Guillermo Flyguy in a couple months but Ed Hanley and I are going to Hollywood on Monday with the intent of flying Guillermo on the show that evening. They tried to fly it themselves and had difficulties so we really don't know what we will encounter getting him back in the air. The site is very tight and will be a challenge. Right now the plan is to launch and recover in the back parking lot. There is an adjacent empty ball field to fly over and perform turns but I expect he will get a little torn up on landing. I guess we'll all know at the same time...... err 3 hour delay on the west coast.

Otto,

I find that non-fliers tend to think you can take off and land in about ten lengths of the aircraft, which may be valid if you were a bush pilot inside the aircraft, but remotely controlled does not give you that perspective.
