Question
Wiring Help

Im interested in building an rc hovercraft. My question is.. How are you guys running 2 separate motors and esc's? I plan on having a lift fan that i can control proportionally via my transmitter. And also a propulsion fan with a separate speed controller. Do i need to use some kind of board such as an arduino, or does it just hook into the receiver? Thanks.

are you using a car or plane transmitter? if you use a plane, i would set the throttle channel to the vertical lift motors esc and use the elevator channel for the propulsion fan.

yes, just use escs without becs as not to overvolt the reciever. if your escs have becs, you will need to disable one of them.

it will be tricky to get it to work properly, perhaps you should make the lift fan on a two position switch and put the propoltion fan on the left stick, or throttle.

Why would it be tricky to have it be proportional?

Yeah im just looking to have one channel lift and one channel thrust. Sounds like i just need to eliminate one bec as to not short out the receiver if im not mistaken.

Looking at the dates, you've probably got it sorted by now but I had recently had a hovercraft with the same setup.
The lift fan was on the throttle stick with an aircraft ESC (no reverse).
The drive fan was on the elevator stick with a car or boat ESC so it could reverse.
To disable one of the BECs, I removed the positive pin from the plug and tied it back.
