Nooo!

F3B is the soaring class that requires most diverse flying skills and thus in my opinion is the best competition format to determine the world's best soaring pilot.

That would be really bad if no more F3B worlds would be hold.

Hi all,

I'm shocked and sad to read this text proposal to the CIAM...
I agree with you Reto about F3B, even if I'm also concerned about F3F .

Really? F3B is the ultimate in RC soaring competition. It combines all of the elements of a true soaring pilot. It is the equivalent to Formula 1 of RC soaring. It takes the best of the best to compete at that level. All of the airframe advancement of our sport come from F3B.

Please, just make sure that your delegates at the CIAM (in each country) vote against this proposal !

Unfortunately, the proposal comes from my country, and I really want to apologize about this.

French Soaring representatives (F3K, F3F, F3B, F3J) just discovered this text today ( a big thank you Roman !) and of course we have never been informed or consulted about it. This is an unilateral proposal coming from the president of the french aeromodelling federation...

It is just a pity that french pilots have discovered this text from our NAC leader without any discussion with the involved F3x members...
(we discovered it this morning with Roman's link !!!)

Then it is just a proposal... hopefully they need a common agreement !

Let's talk !

F3b

I've never flown any F3B as I started sailplanes late in life, BUT I've always loved to compete. There is no better measure of a sailplaner's skills yet devised.......and it would be a great loss to no longer hold World Championships for this event. Hopefully this does not come to pass.

Looks like more countries than just the US of A are looking to cut costs on the world competition stage ...

I have to agree with DP. I have never flown the event, but was the Contest Director for the most recent US team select. These pilots are superbly sharp and the performance these guys derive from the aircraft is nothing short of awesome. I can only say that if we do not support the continuation of these disciplines of competition, we will all lose out on not only the competitive aspect, but also in the drive to advance the sport and technology which we enjoy today. Advances in airframe design, transmitter capability, servo design, support equipment, materials and adhesives...all the product of competition moving us forward. If you value what we have, make sure your voice is heard. And then, help to keep it by getting more people to fly these events with us. Numbers speak.

I would suggest all US pilots let Terry Edmonds (US Soaring CIAM Rep) and Bob Brown (AMA President) know their feelings on this issue.

I've been addicted to F3B since 1985 (WC Australia)
I can't imagine life without a WC every 2 years.

I've already sent my proposal rejection letter to my club secretary to be forwarded to the relevant Federal representative here in Australia.
