FMS 1450 vs 1700

For anyone that owns both of either the Mustang or Corsair I would love to hear about your opinions of each plane and I would love to see some comparitive pictures of 1450 and 1700, side by side if possible. Im absolutely sold on FMS as I own 3 other warbirds and im trying to decide if 1700 is worth the extra cost of only being ~250mm/10" larger. Thats 5" per wing tip and also 5" more on the nose and 5" on the tail.. That doesnt seem like a lot but perhaps seeing in a picture vs the smaller one it is?? $390 vs $280.....is it worth the extra $110?

I only own the 1400. I can fit it in my Subaru Outback without taking the wings off. Not so with the 1700 and removing the wings puts wear and tear on it that I didn't want to deal with.

I own both the v2 1.7m P51 and the 1.4/1.45m P51 v5 both from FMS. Id say they are both great planes, but different. The newer v7 1.4/1.45m has just as much detail as the 1.7m only difference is lipo used 4s vs 6s and size really. My older v5 P51 was my 1st larger scale warbird ands was easy to transport in a vehicle although I can easily transport the v2 1.7m P51 also, some find the size to be a pain to haul and fit in a vehicle. Disassembly has been made easier to accommodate them. They are both great planes and if it's your 1st venture into the larger warbirds I'd say get familiar with the wing load flying the 1.4/1.45m plane also if transporting is an issue.

I see transportation to be more of an issue than anything so far. Valid point.

I have flown a 110" 50cc so big planes are not new to me. My only regret would be if I buy a 1.7, ideally both if I can eventually, and if its not that much more a monster presence than the 1.4 series, ill feel as though maybe I should have gotten 3 - 1.4s for roughly the same cost as 2 -1.7s. Yes Im getting ahead of myself! LOL

V8, since you have both do you find you fly one more than the other?? Does one of the planes get more attention amoung friends and fellow flyers?

My 1.4/1.45m P51 now hangs in the garage and is now just a decoration, lol!

Yes the 1.7m definitely has a bigger presence over the smaller brother.

I have had several 1700s and several 1400s (not bragging, it's a sickness, lol)...For me personally, I love flying the 1700s much more. There's just a feeling, a presence both on the ground and in the air you just can't get with the smaller sizes. The 1400's are fun to fly, don't get me wrong, but I LOVE giant warbirds. The bigger the better for sure.

I also have a giant SUV that I can haul them around in which makes it easier. Transport is a concern with the 1700s for most.

I want to feel like I'm flying the real deal as much as possible and the closest I can get is these larger sized warbirds. They both have their place!

Below is my 1700 P-51D Red Tail, 1400 P-51D Red Tail and 1450 P-51B.

NIce pics! Its hard to tell in some pics the size difference between the 2 mustangs in some pics. Throw the Corsair in the mix too! I cant seem to decide between the Corsair or Mustang and im afraid I might have to get both as well!

Yeah I noticed that too. The second photo in is your best size comparison visually.

Wow, that really shows up nicely. Its hard to believe thats only ~17% bigger spec-wise. It looks much bigger all around.....very nice. I was secretly hoping that the difference would be negligable to save some dough but these pics are not helping! LOL
