v959 FPV

Removed the landing gear, camera, and canopy from my v959, then I strapped on my 5.8ghz FPV cam with a 90mah battery.

At first I got weird results using my 9x radio. But then I turned off the camera, got the v959 bound to the tx, checked that it flew correctly, then I powered up the camera, then everything worked ok. I flew in fpv for about 5 minutes around my living room, never hit anything and landed the v959 dead perfect on the ottoman.

If nothing else, the v959 is going to be my FPV trainer. It's perfect. I'll probably fly both the FPV cam and my 808 #16 eventually.

More info please. I want to put fpv gear on my 959. I see some inexpensive gear on fpvhobby.com that is also ultralight.

What are you using?

It says 8g, but after I cut off that huge connector and put a losi on it, It weights 4.8 grams.

I have looked at that same cam. I thought that there was a chip or resistor in the barrel. Not true? What battery? Range?

It runs on "4v" but I have no trouble with a 1S. Have not done range testing, but it works around the house. I would imagine it would work for 300 to 500 meters outside with a clear line of sight.

I cut the barrel to pieces expecting a something inside, but it's just plastic. It really does just run on 4v.

I'm thinking of mounting my 5.8 Ghz setup mine as well. I'll probably just buy another transmitter and transmit video from my 808 and dedicate the original to my micros.

I've had my fill of proving micros can handle tortuous winds. You'll never hear me say this again, but I'm ready for summer and some calm wind leisurely\FPV flying.

The V959s hover really really well...........amazing since they don't have accelerometers.

The V959 is great in light winds. But even at 80% throws, it is harder to handle in an 8-10mph wind than my Syma X-1 with a keychain camera and on the high rate.

But still, I think the V959 is my platform for FPV. I ordered the same camera and a receiver. For now I'm going with a 3.5" LCD screen to hook to the receiver. I can do video glasses later.

I'm out about $35 for the 5.8gHz wireless camera/TX and another $30 for the RX. Then the LCD is $19. All shipped free. Yes, it is cheap stuff, but we're talking a V959.

I'll save the expensive stuff for a larger quad.

Hi. Could you specify the model numbers or descriptors for the tx/camera, receiver and lcd? Where are you ordering from? Thanks!

Ebay. The vendor is tobeno2. No model numbers.

Item descriptions are:

5.8G Wireless mini spy Camera

5.8G wireless FPV RX RECEVIER (misspelled)

You might want to wait until I get it all in and working before you decide that's the vendor you want. It could be a disaster.

Hi,Is it hard to switch to huge connector to losi?
If you dont mind, where did you buy the losi connector ?
Is it with wires like this ->http://www.ebay.com/itm/Losi-LOSB086...item3f1b708a62
Or without like this->http://www.ebay.com/itm/Losi-Walkera...item3a7ef3831b

Thanks.

The crimp tool for those pins is hard to find, and I don't have one that fits.
So I used the connectors with wires:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Losi-LOSB086...item3f1b708a62

You have to solder (and heat shrink).

Yes, and watch the polarity.

Make sure plus is plus, so it matches chargers.
