About 20 pilots showed up between noon and 4:00PM today for our Burnaby Lake "Hoods Up" Flyers 1st annual New Year's "Freeze yer buns off" fly-in. The most popular plane of the day was the Gym-E, with 3 present, and in the air at the same time on several occasions!

Weather was calm, and cold for this region, at +4C, with about 6" of crusty snow on the field. The crust made wheeled rog's possible for the light parkfliers, and several of us used floats to good advantage, as well as 1 flying boat doing r.o.snow.

Lyle's Logo 10, which did not survive the day, sadly. A crash from inverted at 30' did major damage near the end of the day, but I didn't get a carnage shot

My Beaver on floats - tore a leg tab off one float and shattered the prop on the landing of the 4th flight, but slide 'n goes were great fun on the icy runway

My Falcon twin flew well, and slid a loooooong way on landings:

Roy's GP clipped wing Cub was a rocket on Astro FAI 15 power!

Lookin good Brad..... Out here in the boonies we have 30 to 35 mph winds out of the North, and white out conditions today
Temp is in the minus range enough to freeze the barn water well, which has a heater, but a power out last night shut it down for just long enough to freeze it.....Same type conditions on New Years Day kinda spoiled the polar bear fly in here, except for two of us who braved the elements for about an hour.
