New speed world record 11.9s at the Gator!

Mike Lachowski flew a 11.98s run at the Gator today, big air and flown as tight as it gets.

Congrats Mike!

Update: David Klein broke the WR ~1hour later with an 11.9s run.

Congratulations!

For those who aren't aware, that is four 150 meter long legs between two pylons/gates and thus their are three 180 degree turns!

You can read more about what F3B including this speed task here:

Are you guys sure your watches are calibrated?
Does each one of your 150 meters have 100 cm in it?
If so then you must have truly awesome conditions

Post videos of these runs, we all want to see the wonder!

Well, we Americans aren't really that good at the metric system you know.
Does it matter?

The course was measured in with ranging equipment.

Seriously the craziest F3b contest I have been in over 10 years. Never seen F3B planes flex so much on launch and on course. Crazy distance runs too.

And it is not over, we are flying duration in howling wind.

OMG!!! Craziest F3B contest ever!

Mikes run at 11.98 was almost unbelievable...

But then for Peter to run a 12.8, and then finally Dave Klein running a 11.90!!!

And there were European and South American witnesses, so us Americans are not fudging it. Just ask Peter and Armin...

The air was amazing. So many 13's and 14's...

This is so awesome...

That would be an average of 112 mph, or 181 kph for each of the four legs, although it is hard to tell which leg of the run would be the fastest when in that good of air...

Should avg more than 113mph. The legs are longer than 150m due to the various "descending slope" being flown and also the radius of the turns would add a few more meters. Anyone know which leg has the steepest run?
F3B speed and distance runs would be the perfect soaring discipline to be live broadcast !

I hope someone got it on video!!
Congrats DK on the speed!
