Good job Aaron I finally have my Wii board out trying to make a head tracking unit out of it for my A&P bird ... This old man has a lot of respect for what you guys do on these boards ,,, I am so lost ... as there is a ton of material to go thru just to get ready to setup the board

Here is another (very cool) bicopter that flies great with out fan cant.

I might throw together a test rig to isolate cant/precession to see what happens with fan cant only, no tilt....kind of like the vinyl record experiment.

And the props can spin in the same direction, but it is of a different design and works under a different principle.

Rimshot, how would you compare the flying qualities of your tilt only copter vs your tilt/cant design?

IMO, the bottom line is, if all that is desired is to fly, as stated, one can fly a brick or build paper airplanes. It just a matter of personal likes and dislikes. Subjectivity.

Why would someone build something like what is shown in the attached picture if all they wants to do is Fly?

Found a great link. Talks about some interesting stuff, all of which are relevant to the OAT bicopter.

Very interesting read. Probably a good thing I don't understand a word of it or I most likely wouldn't even attempt the things I build

If you find something good in it and don't mind breaking it down, way down, into layman terms then I'm all ears.

As long as that brick is made of foam you are good to go. He's getting a nose cone and looks a little more like a torpedo to me now. We'll see what happens.

As for the Arduino learning curve. It's not too bad once you get past that first build. My suggestion is do the "load the blink sketch" tutorial first. That will tell you all about arduino and how to load up code. Then build a + config quadcopter since I think it's the easiest to keep orientation of. You can easily glue a vertical foam fin on it and such to help with orientation even more. Not as easy to do with an x config quad.

Haha,

They took a simulated model of an F16, trimmed it so that it is neutrally stable in flight, and threw four CMGs (Control Moment Gyros or large spinning masses) in it. Then, they tried to control the aircraft using those gyros. When I have some time I'll dig through it more in depth.
