Can I set up a speed controller for manual control?
My buddy has a full-size electric boat that is not working. The power set-up is very similar to our models, in that it has a speed control that takes 24VDC input, and converts it to a three-phase output to a 2200W brushless motor. The speed command to the ESC comes from a manual potentiometer. For testing purposes, would it be possible to modify one of our ESCs to operate from a potentiometer rather than from the throttle output of a receiver? I can then substitute the new ESC for the existing one in order to determine if the motor will run.

Very easy, just get one of these:
Any hobby store should have one.
Or you can make one:
