DC3/C47 retracts

Are there any electric retracts available for the Top Flite DC3?

I believe that Robart has a set.

The Robart DC-3 retracts are pneumatic:

Robart offers pneumatic-to-electric conversions for some of their gear, but I didn't see anything on the DC-3 gear. Might want to drop them an e-mail.

I'm sorry, I didn't read carefully enough. My mistake.

As far as I'm aware, the Robart units are the only ones available for this model.

I have a Top Flite DC-3 kit and a set of the Robart pneumatic DC-3 retracts and curiosity got the best of me about an electric-prowered gear option. I emailed Robart and Erik answered:

"Currently we will not have this available until summer or fall time frame."

The answer was short and sweet, so no indication of there will be a retrofit for the current pneumatic gear or not. From what it looks like on the Robart website, they're coming-up with electric actuators that fit in place of the pneumatic cylinders for some of their gear models. let's keep our fingers crossed the the DC-3 gear cylinders make the electric-powered cut.

I would contact Lado retracts, they might want to do some for the DC-3.

I've often wondered if a 180 degree retract servo could be mounted to replace the pneumatic cylinder?

The travel could be adjusted to lock at both ends,by the servo arm length..

I used one servo in the Midwest 82" AT-6 to retract both wheels, and it struggled, until I added small springs to assist the "up" cycle.

I'm told the new Spektrum retract servo is proportional, metal gear, and has about the same torque as the JR 791 (my current mechanical retract servo of choice).

I have plans for the Ziroli DC-3,and I don't wanna pay that much for the retracts...I can copy the design, and if the servos will be capable, that's the way I'll go.

I have the Likes line electric retracts in a P-51 for 16 years,now....faultless....They're WORTH the money-it's just not chump change !
