These are 8" props. 9" props do not fit, I've tried.

I only left a few mm in between the 8 inch. I wanted this to be as small as possible for 8 inch props.

Yep, I noticed that! I think the size is just right.

I just tested it inside my room, it hovers at roughly 60% or so with a 2200mah 3S lipo and no FPV gear. So it seems like 4S is what you want on this thing. Well, with these motors anyway. (DJI 2212 920kv motors)

Strange, mine hovers around 50% with fpv on 3s, but I just ordered another 2650 4s as it screams on those!

The other thing I noticed is on high stick scaling it flips almost on the spot, I couldnt do that with the bigger frame.

Nah, it's not strange, you simply have more powerful motors!

I could put the Sunnysky 2216 1400kv motors on this one and it would take off like a rocket. But they can't be used on 4S and I have like 7 4S lipos here that I want to put to good use!

The 1800mah 4S Nanotech lipo I have here should be a good match for this one.

Just cut slots and then all motors will fit any way they want.

edit: guess I need to read the whole thread.

Wow nice clean build.... I like the raised board above the FC that looks like it would take a DJI GPS.

Thanks! It's even cleaner now. It's a polycarbonate cover that came with one of my Bambucopter frames. I use it to protect the FC. I'll go for an FPV flight later this week.

It is clean. Is everything in place on that picture? I've still got a hobbyking pcb so hang that underneath with the transmitter inbetween (took the plastic casing of the tx). It's much neater than mine! Good job Wiseduck.

Where's your transmitter?

Everything is in a sandwich on top of the quad.

Bottom: power distribution board.
Next: FrSky 4ch receiver outputting PPM on top of the power distribution or board.
Next: Flight controller.
Top: polycarbonate cover.

So an 850mah 4S lipo gives me about 5 mins of just hovering. The battery is quite warm after this and the Cellmeter says I have 7% left when I land at 3.5v or so. :P So yeah, definitely going to use a bigger battery on this one. Or just two of these, we'll see.

Alright, HoryzonHD and video transmitter have been mounted. It now looks like a proper rats nest. I doubt I can make this look pretty without a lot of work.

Because of the limited amount of motors I have this will most likely be turned into an acrobatic basher later on, my Bambucopter Y6 is still my preferred sub-300 sized rig for filming stuff and for flying in cramped places.

So expect a flight video within the next few days, since I'm also limited to the stock DJI props because of the stupid 8mm shaft on their motors you might see a crash too. The 8" props are supposedly far more sturdy than the 10" ones, but I've never put a big load on them. I will simply fly for as long as the battery will let me or I will fly until something breaks, I won't hold back.

Also, expect lots of jello... I have to use the floppy stock props, so the video might be complete shite. We'll find out soon.
