Zenoahs have been long known for their reliability and high quality. Only negative I'd say is to the magneto ignition system, as it's heavier than the electronic ignition equipped competition.

In some cases a magneto ignition eliminates a second ignition battery and spark module so the weight is offset. Of course. many RC pilots fly with a one battery system now...

The G-20CC should be electronic. The G23 and G26 have a magneto. Zen makes one of the most reliable engines on the market. The only problem is if they ever hit the ground prop first even in soft dirt or grass, your bending the crank shaft. The shaft sticks out there and prop strikes and crashes are very hard on them.

Anyone know how much thrust this engine gives. The model itself will weigh roughly 8-9.5lbs.

A G-20 will produce about 10.5 lbs thrust.

In my opinion, they are generally a better choice than a G-23 or G-26 because of a better power to weight ratio and I base that on observations of owning three G-20s, one G-23 and two G-26s. The G-26 is the better choice if additional nose weight is needed.

A drawback of a G-20 has been the ignition is power hungry. That can be rectified by converting to an RCexl ignition or somewhat by limiting the voltage to the ignition by using a diode voltage drop on a 4.8 volt pack.

Look for 300 bucks you can't go too wrong...I have never had a Zenoah I hear they are heavy compaired to other engines...But it's 300 bucks, get it see how she flies if you like it, you're golden, if you don't change to another brand and swap or sell the Zenoah.
Let us know what you come up with

Prob not gonna do it. 300 doesn't include any servo's/receiver. For Servo's/batts/regulator/opto he wants 500 (granted the plane would come with an extra set of wings and a wing bag).

The plane is around 9.5 so i'd probably get bored of it as it's just too heavy and probably not very easy to fly. Engine will put out around 11lbs of thrust. So all in, i'd be looking at around 650 (i'd have to buy an AR8000). Rather save that money for a Pilot RC with all new stuff and a bigger engine (DLE 35cc).

A 35 cc is quite a jump power wise from about 10.5 lbs thrust to about 18 lbs. so the airframe can certainly be larger. Sounds like your looking for performance and Zenoah engines are generally not thought to be in that category because of their weight. The Zenoah line is reliable and last forever but not the best available performance wise.

Plane and engine new is $500 and that doesn't include another 20 - 30 for shipping. If they are in good shape, it still looks like a good deal. At the extra cost for servos, battery and receiver, looks like they are digital. Go analog and you can save mega bucks.
