6s Battery Suggestions for a 550

I have a Blade 550X on order. My battery box is full of Hyperion packs. Specifically 7s5000 packs for my 71" Slick and some 3s2100's for a smaller 48" foam extra.

I would go with some Hyperion 6s5000's but they are split packs and I don't want to deal with that. If Hyperion would have split the discharge wires but kept the balance tap setup for 6s I wouldn't have a problem with them. Why they sell the 7s without splitting is confusing, but I digress.

What packs are guys recommending for the 550 size helicopters. Looks like the 6s5000 is the basic configuration, but what brands.

I'm in the camp where I would rather spend the extra $'s on good packs and have fewer of them assuming I can fast charge up to 5c (although I normally charge at 2c or maybe 3c if I'm in real hurry).

The spyder packs look good and Thunderpower look good. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Rich

Great batterys here http://helidirect.com/plu45-50006-pu...es-p-26541.hdx

Also a +1 for the turnigy 6s 5000mah 40c...Many flights on these and still rock hard. ( problem is hk having them in usa stock )

And third i also really like the Winmaxx 6s 5200mah 40c. http://www.leaderhobby.com/product.asp?ID=9394001224780

If you want quality and power the Haiyin packs do not dissapoint at all.. I fly nothing but them any more in any of my choppers. I have done demos for people with the Thunderpower 65c and the haiyin 40c. Guess which one came out on top?? thats right the Haiyin packs!

Haiyinstore.com there is a vegas location as well and they have very fast reliable shipping!

I also have some of Hyperion's "frankenpacks" but the only thing I did was solder the + and - on one lead pair together and put a connetor on the other pair. Problem solved. And they do provide a balance y-harness so it's not so bad. But that's just me; it's a little strange but I don't mind.

That's interesting that you've bought 7s 5000 mAh packs that weren't that way but the 6s packs are.

Mike,

Thanks for the tip on the y adapter, didn't realize they made those. I may end up doing the hyperion packs after all.

Yup, they come with the packs (as they should, in my opinion) so it makes it easy to hook up. I agree that it's stupid but at least that adapter makes it painless.
