It's Here!

My Glowire Order arrived - 10 Feet of Aqua for the Bottom and 5 feet of Yellow for the top!

I taped it all in place on the Zagi - This is gonna be sweet! I tried to take digital photos, but my Digicam won't let me take photos when it's that dark.

For those of you that are really wondering:

Inverted/driver unit : 1.2oz.
2.3MM Glowire: 1/10oz per foot (so 10-feet is 1oz)

I got my kit too, but I screwed up and only ordered 1 splitter for three colors. I emailed them to see if I could order one more and not have to pay the $7 shipping. They said no because they ship UPS only and that's the minimum fee. Huh?? That sucks, $7 for 1/4 oz.

If you're comfortable doing it, just solder the wires. If you check their website, they show you how to do it. If you have any spare JST or deans micro connectors available, they might be just the ticket for easy removeability.

I ordered a spare inverted that's gonna go on my IFO for indoor "dark" flying! I have a spare 5' aqua and I'm going to steal 6" or so of the yellow off the zagi for the tail. I haven't actually flown the IFO yet - so this should be very interesting!

I just took that 6" of Yellow off the zagi and soldered it directly on the inverter. Here's how to wire it:

- There should be (2) outer coverings on the wire. The one on the outside is the Color, the inside it clear. Carefully strip them away and you'll get a total of (3) wires. Two are a single-strand hair-thin wires, and one is a phosphur covered center conductor.

- Scrape the phosphur coating off the ens of the center conductor

- solder the scraped part of the phosphur wire to one connector, and the two hair-thin wire to the other - make sure they do not short-out. Since this is AC (alternating current) it doesn't matter which one is + and -.

- Heat-shrink to taste.

Careful with those tiny single-strand wires - they're a pain!

Has anyone removed the plastic case from the inverter? I think I will try it and see if it will save space and weight.

DSAM - I tried removing the plastic case from the inverter - It wasn't worth it, considering I'm using a 10xKAN950 pack in the Zagi. (I think the case is about 1/4 oz)

Anywho... here's a few photos taken with a webcam - I couldn't take them in total dark, but you get the idea. My thanks to Bob, the planeholder!

I took the case off of my inverter. There were three small circuit boards inside connected to each other with small wires. I'm laying mine out in a row and cutting them into the foam just inside the battery bay, opposite the RX. I'm facing the board with the power switch into the battery bay and placing it at the far rear and recessed into the foam a bit so the switch is easily accessible, but not "switchable" if the battery shifts around. It'd suck to pull a tight maneuver and suddenly have your lights turn off!

The case doesn't save you much weight, I just didnt' want to bore out more foam than necessary, so the wing is as strong as possible.

Here is my brothers Slow Stick. or should I say Glow Stick.
It is way cool!!! We just got finished flying both Slow Sticks in the dark and the rain.
Mine only has the LED's for now but now that I have seen the glow wire I may have another project coming up.
Maybe some glow wire under the covering on my Unicorn??
