Jeez I just watched the full length version of this, but this time with my speakers on. Between the sound of the carnage up in the trees, and the ensuing "thump" on the landing, I laughed so hard I nearly suffocated.

In an odd sort of way I feel sorry for the guy, but I'd also like to think that most of us who are rookies would have a little more common sense. He's lucky he didn't get scalped.

Probably because his hand wasn't on the cyclic and the gyro was keeping it level without his 'help'.

I think if you look at the video at about 5:32 in full screen. I think the main blades are on backwards
I went back and looked at the spool down the rotation is counter clockwise so thats a match maybe the start of a expert scale build.
The one way would be flipped to work.

I love how cool he is in the beginning, so nonchalant, like 'another day flying the heli'... the cigarette adds to his 'cool guy routine'. Up to a certain point this could've been a 1970's cigarette advertisement.

Nah.... it's a Vario Silence and those are standard CCW....

Why would the one way need to be flipped?

I don't know whether I should laugh because this is so funny or cry because he is such an idiot! I have done, and will continue to do, stupid things while I am learning to fly but I am not so stupid to post this video!

That's the kind of damage i was wondering about when i learned about motors. Is a fixed prop and a directdrive high torque motor the only thing that can do that much damage? The only way i can think of that happened is if the operator had knocked over his TX while handling it. A helicopter takes a while to pick up enough momentum to actually start damaging like that.
