Here's the manual for it: http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/6exp-manual.pdf
On pg 24-26 they show the helicopter setup. It is tricky and that's mostly because of the cheapo LCD display. It's not popular, and you'll have trouble finding help with it. The Futaba stuff is popular, but this particular radio is a little odd. The thing does work though, it just lacks some settings we need on helicopters, and the programming is tricky. The other Futaba radios are quite a bit better. |

Take a look at the Spektrum (DX6i - DX8), you would do well to get a DX8 in your price-range, but maybe in S/H classifieds. The Turnigy 9X also rated by many. Start by going to your nearest club and see what the are using, you will get better support from an existing user, the Futaba you linked to is the 2.4ghz version of my old 35mhz 6EX, looks the same, has 6 model memory, same 8yrs+ technology with a 2.4g transmitter. Having said that, I loved mine when I had it, but needed to move on. The DX8 I now use has quite a bit more going on and I'm well pleased with it. If you really want to go Futaba, their RX's are costly where the DSM2 (Spektrum) system has third party like 'Orange-RX' which is somewhat cheaper. I would still go with what other local flyers (or club) recommends.

Advise on best buy ?
A plane, not a demented buzzing thing ![]() Planes, (things with wings), have so much more going for them. Sorry, but I just don't see what the fascination is with quad copters, (multi rotors), is it a 'fashion' thing ? If you want to hover, why not get a helicopter ?, at least they can look more like something real. ![]() Ok, so I've been a plank flier for 50+ years and perhaps just a 'little' set in my ways.

Alright guys. Thanks for your all your inputs. Could you also give feed back on the brand Spektrum with model DX8?
I have seen a few on ebay, which I think could be better than buying lower models in brand new condition of Futaba. Also, can this be radio be used for boats/Heli/Quads/planes & cars? |
