SYMA S031 vs S031G

I bought a Syma S031G and think I was actually given an S031. I thought the S031 came with a 7.4v 1100 mAh Li-ion battery and the new and improved S031G came with a 9.6v 800 mAh Li-po. Can anyone verify what the differences are and if anyone has had any flight problems with either bird? I am not sure I want to go through the hassle of trying to return it for the correct model.

There is no 9.6v lipo, they are made in 3.7v increments.

Hi, the s031 had a 9.6v nicad and the s031g (later ) was changed to 7.4 lipo. I have an early s031 and a later model s031 both had 9.6v nicads which I replaced with 11.1v lipos with no ill effect. The later one has a two speed tail motor which is very necessary to get any wind performance.
If you've managed to get an so31with this then do the battery mod and fit a tail rotor from the s033g which makes it really shift.Good luck

Thanks for the info guys! I have seen the S031g advertised with 3 different batteries and one guy on youtube mentions the 9.6 lipo which Balr14 educated me of its non existence. My S031G came with a 7.4v 1100 mah li-ion but the box says li-poly. It also has the 2 speed tail motor and I already replaced the rotor with one from my old S033G. I am also losing some weight from the rear and adding it to the nose because it drifts backwards at hover. I am also lengthening the antenna to 54" to make it a wavelength multiple of 27 mhz. I think 1/2 the fun is experimenting with different mods. It has been very cold and windy so I have not had much flying time. I also have the new S33 and had a couple signal drops like the S033G even after replacing the pcb board thinking the first one was defective but weather has been to bad to make any more test flights. I am eager to hear if anyone is having any problems with the S33.
