SUPPOSE there is mass production and we start seeing micro diesels and glows buzzing around
Can't find any of the smallest ones running

They are expensive, rather finicky and more of a show piece than really usable in the real world. Not likely to ever see any mass production of such jewel and certainly not glow!

But the glowplug would not be the problem, here is one of Alexander Ossovick's tiny glowplugs as used in his 2cc 4-cylinder inline. I do make ignition plugs in the same size. Never tried my hands on glowplugs.

Plug at left is a standard OS glowplug by the way.

In such small size a spark plug is more doable like in that tiny 4-strokes which actually run. Anything can be done as a few units without price consideration, but mass production is another story were precision in such small parts is paramount. Leroy Cox was successful in mass producing the TD .010 because of his attention to precision machining and quality control. There is very little demand for very small engines and the market would not support the kind of price they would command, which is sad because now we have very usable small r/c equipment thank to the electric revolution. Diesel can be very small (not having the plug restrictions), but in most countries fuel is a problem as ether is also used in another "Hobby", tiny engines also requires smaller props than what is used for even the Cox TD .010. The two small 2-strokes from Japan uses a regular Cox TD .010 glow head!

I recall an article in one of the modelling magazines years ago about a guy and the really small model engines he made. If I remember correctly, some of them were about 1 centimeter long. I do not recall if he could actually run them or not.

The smallest one, and I do mean a fully working turbine not the soldering gas lamp, is called Colibri, made in Germany

This is one of those George Luhrs miniature fourstroke engines. Height from mounting lug to rockers is only 65mm.

The world smallest Dooling..... Last picture shows LtoR standard glowplug, one of my home made ignition plugs and an even smaller glowplug that is made by the builder of that tiny Dooling

Those familiar with my website do know which is which.......
