Question
Which receiver should I use?

Just picked up a used Hangar 9 P-47 Thunderbolt with a Saito 125 Golden Knight engine. So stoked!!

Need to put a Spektrum receiver in it. I have a DX8.

Not sure of which one I should use? It does have retracts as well, so I guess it'll need at least 5 channels.

What's the difference between these 2?

Spektrum AR600 6-Channel Sport DSMX Receiver
Spektrum AR6210 6-Channel DSMX Receiver

Would one of these be better to use than the other? Not sure.

Here's a picture of it

6210 is a better choice IMHO.

Go with the 6210 since it also has remote receiver so will have less chance of signal loss. The 600 that I had liked to loose signal from time to time for a few seconds. Luckly that was in my trainer and each time I was able to recover.

Great buy there, The 125 should yank that plane around pretty good. A guy at our field flies one of those with a SA91 in it and it does spirited scale flight.

Also make sure you are using a 5 cell battery (6Volt battery) or better. You reduce the risk of browns, or receiver drop out caused by the battery voltage dropping to low. Make sure the receiver battery is at least a 1000 milliampere hours in capacity, I would even suggest more is better. It is a cheap expense when you consider that the life of your airplane depends on the receiver battery. You can run out of fuel, have an engine die and dead stick it home. But if the battery dies, or you receiver does not get enough voltage to work and the servos do not have enough power to work, then you are out of control. So quite possibly the receiver battery is the most important element in your airplane.

Ahmen to that! After a friend lost a plane due to not enough juice in the battery I've always ran over kill with 3000mah minimum, and now with my digital servos I run a 4500mah LiFe.

Yea I love the LiFe packs too. Plenty of power ability and lighter than NiCad/NiMh.

And running at 6v is nice as well for speed and torque of the servo.

I am running a spektrum 4.8v NiMh 1500 mah battery. I cannot go up to 6 volt because my JR 791 servo for the retracts says 4.8v max. So I hope this is sufficient.

You'll be fine, you'll just need to charge it after every 2 - 3 flights depending on what kind of servo's you're running and if they bind up or not.

Or buy a new retract servo rated at 6v and get a LiFe battery of substantial mah and never look back.
