Thanks Nutbag! Yes weighing up whether it's worth it, most of the time I can get it out of the way with throttle management and the brake on, and the only nag is sometimes if it shifts in the collet you lose your balance.

I bet it'll come with the HK standard HTX-900 clone servos which I have no faith in whatsoever.
I have some DS-329 MG or even DS-919 MG to use if they don't fit.

I was just watching a Zephyr II video on Youtube where they were using full-size (yep I mean FULL sized) servos and what looked to be 1/4" monster hollow carbon fiber tube control rods. Possibly a little over-the-top

The manual indicates Z-bend wire control rods but lately I've been a fan of solid 2mm CF rods that HK sell.

Anybody have any plans to mod theirs?

I have a pair of Hitec HS65MG servos i plan on using. Going to use steel rods with dubro ez connectors. Turnigy Plush 60a esc with an NTM 3536 1800kv motor. If that motor wont fit i have a 2830 1800kv. Dragonlink.

As for fpv gear i plan on using a 800mw 1.3ghz vtx, RMRC 540 camera, dragonosd and maybe an FY30.

We'll see. Hopefully i get it at the end of the month. Currently busy building a zephyr.

It says 800kv motor on showcase HK page?

Is it possible to use 4s-5000mah, APCe 12x8 prop. (or too heavy?).

I have this motor:

I use this same setup on my SkyHunter and SkyWalker 2013 Carbon Boom version.
My SkyHunter has unlimiter verticals using this setup....

Order one to try out. Hopefully it will be a nice slower speed FPV wing.

That's the manual I uploaded to HK.
There's a size-reduced one in the first post of this thread.

Order placed as well .

I use folders on my flying wings. The main thing you need to be careful of is to make sure the blades do not crossover when they trail otherwise the motor can spin up with both blades on one side. This can rip the motor right out of the aircraft really quickly. I make a rectangular plate (~7x20x1.5mm aluminium) that fits on the collet bolt as an additional washer and touches the base of the inside face of the blades.

The reduction in drag is quite significant if you are gliding a lot - I use my wings for sloping and thermal work. The autopilot I have uses a boost glide strategy as well in altitude hold.

The Aeronaut props are also more efficient I believe than most fixed "electric" props. At the K/V for this motor it will probably pull a 10x6 folder if you are just cruising. No point in tuning the prop for max throttle work if you are interested in endurance.

Ok thanks. Just figured I'd post a link to the PDF as well for those wanting it all in one file to print. Guess I missed the PDF link in the first post.

Disappointed in the plastic motor mount. Hopefully it holds up.

It will probably be fine fi used for it's intended purpose, i.e. the standard power set up, but I'm sure people will be fitting much more powerfull motors with matching props that are going to put considerably more stress on the mount

If you're going to do that then re inforce the mount before hand

Yep. Here you go.
I recently tried using them on another foamie for short (100mm) pushrods and apart from being a bit of a challenge to cut (roll a very sharp knife over them) cyano into plastic clevises nicely.
