Homemade Stand / workbench

I get so much help here, I thought I would throw this out there.
I found this video when looking for a stand.
DIY: Make Your own RC Airplane work stand from PVC pipe, cheap! (3 min 22 sec)

after three crashes already, I got sick of working on this thing on my computer desk so I actually went out and bought a cheap work bench.

Workbench
http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...1#.URBlNx3Ae8A

So I followed the guy in the video and built something almost identical, except I made it taller so that when I am out at my flying spot I dont have to constantly bend over and such. Same for when I am working on it at home.
I also painted it. I usually like color schemes with red/black/white or something like that, but for some reason I went with yellow and black. I did not realize it was the same as my plane until I sat the plane on it.
I also did not want to spend 30 bucks on a short box with the stand on it, needed it to be taller.

As you can see it is still to long, so I will just cut the pipe on the bottom a bit.
The form is in the plumbing section at home depot/lowes as well.

The guy in the video uses 1.5 inch. I used 1.5 inch on the bottom for a stronger base, then the rest 1 inch. Main reason i went with 1 inch on top is the end pieces I did not have to cut like he did, they are actually some sort of 90 degree angle slash Y fit adapter thingy. So no cutting involved.

So for all you new guys like me, figured I would throw this out there. Makes working on these easier.

The work bench was super cheap, and is actually very good quality for 70 bucks.

Also, if you have a turnigy charger, like the one i bought, I found this video on youtube for a cheap power supply.
I am around computer parts all day, so I snagged one and did not have to spend another 20 bucks just for a power supply.
Ghetto, but it works

Use a Computer Power Supply For Your Turnigy Battery Charger (9 min 55 sec)

As an addendum...Drill a few holes thru the base leg ends and carry some 10 in. spikes. The wind will affect the stand when a plane is in the cradle. Just an extra safety measure.
I made a stand for a sat dish from PVC piping and ended up using some wine bags filled with water for weight. We've all seen planes blown off the work table onto the ground.
Looks good.

Stabilizing a stand is just "plane safe" The heavy flight box does an excellent job though.

Combo Stand

I saw designs for PVC stands and PVC balance testers so I thought why not combine them into one. The joint at the 45 is not glued so it articulates a little bit and I have a couple of elbow assemblies that I can put on it to move the balance points around for different planes.

I could but it's not a very complicated assembly. All 1/2" PVC with split foam pipe insulation. PVC Caps hold the insulation in place. The balance posts are 1/4-20 carriage bolts that are mounted in PVC caps drilled out with nuts on the top and bottom. The "X" pieces are standard fittings available in most hardware stores.
