FPV Help Please

Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and I excited to know there are so many people who like flying things..

I am a total noob to everything relating Helicopters and flying Rc object.

I now own a Trex 450 DFC and learning to fly it in real life and simulator at the moment.

I am interested in FPV, looks amazing. What is the best way to go about it?

using a Quadcopter? what is best/cheapest fpv you can get?

Thank you so much for your help.

Hmm, my opinion is more towards fixed wing for FPV learning. And I'd stay right away from Heli's for FPV, they are hard enough to fly line of sight let alone FPV!!

If you check out hobbyking you can get some good FPV gear there at great prices, it really just depends how far into it you want to get. Also you're probably best to get over to the FPV forum here on RcGroups as there is heaps of information there. It's near impossible to reply with all there is to know so you have to be prepared to do ALOT of reading. Head over there and start choosing how you want to go about things.

Dont do heli fpv! I can fly helis proficiently but I will never try FPV on it. Fixed wing is really good to do and not to hard. I am just getting into quad FPV and thats harder than fixed wing. I would recommend that you have OSD/return to home though. It will make flying so much easier and interesting. Return to home saved me more than once.

Cheers

What would be the right glider/plane to use? Would it be very expensive?

I already have a Walkera 2801 pro control... so I would like to keep using that.

do you have any links for a decent not too expensive glider?

Thanks for your advice.

Take care

A lot of guys use the Bixler from Hobby King. Not expensive and proven flyer.

Awesome, thank you so much... now just have to wait for them to get stock!

two more questions:

It says that I need a 4 Channel Radio (Tx/Rx), but I have 8 channel TX/RX, would they still work?

and

What FPV gear would you recommend for a beginner?

Zootster thank you for time and help.

Depends on what you want. Hobby King have some fair 900mh equipment. Most expensive part will be the video goggles.

Here is a complete set which works.

then the goggles

Or you go complete Fatshark system.

The parkzone radian is expensive. Try something a little cheaper like a hobbyking Pheonix2000 or as already stated, the bixler or even the Bixler V2.

my brother got my old man one from a hobby shop in Wollongong for about $190

they are great gliders only 3ch and they have lots of power big wing span lots of lift and they float imo you can beat a parkzone radiain as a beginner glider they use a 2200mah 3s batt and on a great day and good thermals ur can do 1hr easy but with the extra weight my firends dont have any problems

just google and do some rescerch

the hking blixler 2 is good aswell but they dont float and glide as good as a radian

but its up to you and what ur $$ is BTW where in aus are u from
