sorry stupid question

hi all i need to ask this so sorry its a stupid question but when you look at helis to buy eg align t-trex they say 250,450,600.700 so this must be the size ? if it is is it cm or mm and where is the measurement taken from kind regards neil

I've read somewhere the size is related to the length of the rotor blade. but there are a lot of exceptions to that thought.

The size was originally related to motor size required to power the heli when they used brushed motors, up to 500 size anyway. I tried to see if the size had any correlation to gas engine size 30 years ago but didn't find anything.
