Maiden the Wing today. What a blast!!!

Had some informal Combat last night, at an indoor Soccer Arena, with the Crack Wing, on and off over the course of 3 hours there was almost always 2 Crack Wings with streamers in the air, and at some points there were ten or more... Crazy Crack Fun. They held up very well, however, not for the timid..

I have a question about the crack wing motors. I bought 2 kits so my flying buddy and I could go at each other. The first crack has about 20 more flights than the second and the motor is about 25% stronger than the second which has less than 10 flights. Is this just a break in thing or could the second motor be bad.

And Cdee, how are you attaching the streamers?

Could be the difference in Batteries, if you still have less power even with the same battery, next check that the prop is balanced, an out of balance prop will rob power, beyond that not sure.

Streamers can be attached in various ways, last night I just used the Green High Tack Painters tape, worked just fine. Notice that it is best to put something with a little "stretch" (I used two rubber bands, one split and one whole, tied together as shown in the photos) inbetween the streamer and the Wing as shown, and directly behind the motor will have the least effect on handling.

How long are the streamers you all use? Are they just crepe paper?

yes... crepe paper streamers.. all I could find was something about 1.50 inches wide, which want to cut in half, and they should be about 20ft long, just make sure that they are all the same length, as the object is of course to have the longest ribbon after some set period of time in the air....

I'm trying to program the mix you suggest, but my DX7s has me confused. After fiddling with it for about 15 minutes, I am clueless how to mix the ailerons to the rudder.

in my DX8, I had to create my own elevon mix, then mix the rudder into that.
use the rates to get rudder to up elevon only
took me a while

I've been experimenting with some scratch versions of the Crack Wing.

don't wan't to hijack if ya want to keep this focused on stock crack wing!

Set up a program mix with rudder master - aileron slave. If you change the rate from 100% (either higher or lower) you can also use it as an instant dual rate without having to touch a switch.

I love this Crack Wing design
I scratched a few Crack's out of MPF foam with rudders
I smoothed many of the cuts, eliminated the tabs for quick hand cut and build
made the rudders symetrical top to bottom, flys unbelievable!
