How about an all white version to facilitate custom paint work?

That's a fantastic idea typeRA, but the decision-makers rarely go for that -- concern about the additional inventory required not only for the units themselves, but spare parts. However, now that I think of it, there would be only four additional stock-keeping units--the kit itself, wing, fuse, horizontal stab. I'll throw that one "up the chain" (of command). I give it a 10% chance, but we can always hope.

Tell you what though, it will be a whole LOT less work to paint a Rifle 1M than it is to paint a Rifle (I know - painted three Rifles already and painting two more now). All you'd have to do with the 1M is sand off the orange, then you're down to the resin. There will be no white paint base coat as there is on the Rifle.

Thanks!

Tim

Hopefully I can upload the instruction manual soon. Therein I wrote much discussion about motor sizes and such to help you on your decision.

Huh. That link to the manual isn't working right now. I also tried opening it directly from the Great Planes page and wouldn't work there either. Something's messed up. Maybe it'll fix itself in a day or two. If not, I'll inquire.

But I got a notice from USPS that my MEGA 16/25/1.5R arrived - guess I'll have to go to the post office to pick it up. Being a MEGA, and at 3750kV, I should be able to prop it just about however I want (4.5 x 4.1 through 4.75 x 4.75 at least!) depending on how long I want the flight to last.

Waiting for suitable flying weather and clear skies to do flying video...probably going to be a while on that (a good month?). Presently, the primary source of info is the Great Planes web site:

http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma1806.html

(I was able to open the instruction manual pdf here at work, so don't know if there is a problem with my home computer, or whatever was wrong with it when I could't open it last night at home has been fixed.)

I'm guessing the listing on the Tower Hobbies page (with more color images) may be first of March.

In the mean time, if you have any questions, ask away!

Thanks jackosmeister Chris (Chris, right?).

Sorry Neil. Thanks for the offer though.

Actually, I'll be in Florida myself in about a week visiting my mother who is wintering there. Over in Seminole. But our one-and-only Rifle 1M with colors suitable for video is away somewhere at a trade show anyway.

P.S. I received my MEGA 16/25/1.5R (3750kV) and ran it up on a 4.75 x 4.75 and a 4.75 x 5.5. Around 800W and 890W respectively (if memory serves). I'll post actual numbers including rpms later. Will give me about 1.5 minutes flight time WOT on a 3S 2200mAh battery (shopping for some 65C batteries just now).

Seminole is about an hour from our flying field (RCACF.com).

and I have lipos and chargers available...

Hey Neil....

Hmm. I'll have to think about that. Thanks for the offer and I'll PM you either way.

Thanks again!
