Personally, if I had the OP's McCoy I'd hang on to it and wait for a good crankcase to appear on ebay.

I just ran across this thread again (I had a busy February) and wanted to thank all those here for their input. It was appreciated greatly. Obviously I was wrong when I assumed this engine had a use in free flight. I appreciate the correction. And much as I appreciate Downunder's suggestion, I'm putting this one on the auction block.

That is a nice looking engine. You'll have no trouble selling. There are guys that buy these to run and fly. Give us your ebay name so we can watch the action.

To end off, here is the Mc Coy Invader control line car I mentionned. And also this, you can contact Woody Bartelt of Aero-Electrics, he made a stunning reproduction of the Series 20 and maeby he's got some spare crankcases left.

Rail

Before control line there were the rail-cars, sort of the forerunner of that later scale electric slotcars. Cars did have two close set roller bearings that fitted onto an upstanding metal rail.

That was cool Earl. The first movie was filmed in my home town. I had no idea there used to be a track like that.

I wonder how they managed to get all those engines running at once (and not overheating).

you might also want to add that the exhaust stack has been shaved and contoured. it is visible in one of the pics but still better to CYA.

The fact that the exhaust was modified shows that it was used in a C/L speed plane. That did that to fit inside the cowl.
