Your Radio Control System of Choice?

I am amidst building my quad copter. I plan on having rth and FPV with sweet goggles... ya know... all the bells and whistles... And I want to make sure I have room to grow.

I prefer Futaba and was liking the 12FG.

But there are so many little things to look into and I can't seem to find all the info I need to make sure it will work with what I want. So, I figured the most passive way to figure it out is see what every one is flying and what systems they are running it with. SO!!!

What is your Controller of choice and what are you flying with it? Does it do everything you want? What would you buy if not that one?

I just ordered the Turnigy 9XR. Loaded with features - best bang for your $50. I can't justify buying the $3k+ radios. But if I had the money I tell ya...

i personally fly with Futaba 9C with a FrSky module, with if i had money i will buy Aurora 9. not because the futaba is a bad system. futaba is great, but aurora a bit cheaper in their full range rx and my futaba already 10 years old and i'm a too much paranoid person specially flying a full rigged hexacopter. i dont really trust my old futaba since i fell and drop my tx on a slipery day in the field. Lol.

for a economic choice i prefer the 9XR with a FrSky Module. or an UHF one :P

Check out the Walkera Devo 12S. It is about 1/3 of the price of the Futaba.

A lot of interesting choices. I wouldn't have expected. Thanks for the replies so far.

im probably the only person that is going to say Spektrum DX8. I've used the Spektrum gear for 2 years now, granted i haven't pushed it too far (max 1km) but I have never experienced a single dropout, failsafe, hold with Spektrum.

I switched to Dragonlink for FPV for peace of mind, which is giving good results so far, but all my AP rigs use a dx8 with ar8000 tx and telemetry

Spektrum DX7 for short range LOS flying. Not one drop out in 5 years of flying weekly.
Futaba 9C with dragon link for FPV. I still fly close but it's nice not to stress over range.

9x with er9x (best functionality/adaptability and super cheap). Set up with DL or other LRS for FPV.

I'll chime in here with a 9x with an ersky9x upgraded mainboard, upgraded LCD with backlight and rotary knob and an frsky JR module with telemetry.

Way more functionality than most radios twice or even 3 times the price
