Dang. I was just wanting an as3x pattern plane after using the Phoenix pattern ship. They beat me to the request.

Will pheonix make this plane for the sim. I'd rather try it before I buy and crash it.

E-Flite Carbon Z Splendor Preview Video (3 min 41 sec)

I have two 6S's with nothing to do at the moment.....wonder if they'd be good for the Splendor???

One is 3300 30C, 522 grams; the other is 2450 30C, 398 grams.

(The recommended battery is EFLB32006S30, a 3200 30C. Apparently, it's not available yet, and I can't find its weight given anywhere. Street price will be about $100.)

As an alternative, what do you knowledgeable guys think about using a Y-harness to connect two 3S batteries in series? Looks like there's ample room in the battery compartment for two 3S.

Should be fine if you have 2 3s 3100-3300. People are doing that all the time on their 70''+ planes with 2 4s 4000s to make 8s 4000 packs.

To keep weight down, what would you think about a pair of 3S 2200? (25C, 30C, or 40C)

Also, if you're pairing batteries, how important is it that they have the same C-rating? Would it be bad to pair a 30C with a 25 or 40C?

As long as each battery is capable of putting out the required amps it should be fine. I'd think the 2200s would leave you with flight times under 5 minutes.

One notable improvement at least in my opinion compared to the Parkzone VisionAire is that this one has a clear canopy with a pilot instead of black painted foam in the canopy area. I am a bit surprised on a $300 plane they did not put one on the VisionAire.
It just makes the plane look so much better to me.

I've been considering getting a precision-aerobatics ship. Not necessarily to ever compete with, but certainly to grow my skills as a pilot through structured practice of the pattern maneuvers and sequences.

I'm having a blast in the hobby, but sometimes I feel like I'm just farting around without much skill improvement -- flying Pattern/IMAC will give me a goal.

I'd been considering the 47" Osiris or 48" Super Vyper, but I'll have to see how people like this Splendor once it goes on sale. I like the larger size and foam construction (I *want* my first balsa, but I know it'll be heartache eventually). AS3X is nice, but the AR635 (or a Guardian) could easily be added to my other two candidates. Overall in-the-air price seems comparable between the three of them.

£289 is the cheapest BNF basic price showing on a UK Google Shopping search at the moment. Batteries are about £70 for a good one.

47" Osiris and the 48" Vyper are both awesome. I am buying another 48" Vyper, I miss mine. Great flying planes designed by R/C gurus. (Scott Stoops/Andrew Jesky)

I definately want one, but not at $420.00 bucks. Maybe when they get blown out due to lack of sales like the Hurricane 25E, H9 P-51B, and H9 P-40B.

Price point matters....
