Bill Barnes airplanes-sources

am looking for drawings of the airplanes from Bill Barnes.
is this the most likely place to ask for them?
or if there is a better place, please advice.

sort of nostalgia-fiction thing...
thanks

Some time ago there was a site that specialized in drawings and cover art from the old Air Trails Mag. It was located on an ATT hosted web site that no longer exists. Possibly someone still has the files but I haven't been able to find them.

Another site still appears to be there but most of the links are broken.
http://www.ualberta.ca/~khorne/oct-04/Oct-04.htm

Here is a link to a PDF file of an original story.

Some of the old drawings from Air Trails are located here.

If you do an image search for " Bill Barnes Air Trails " quite a few files of the old covers will come up.

If I ever find a good link I'll post it here.

Regards,

thanks

thank you for the links.
still, what i would like to see is the drawings of the planes, perhaps in perspective.
i had some that appeared in a magazine, but lost track of them. there was an article about these planes and showed them. great, detailed drawings in perspective.

There was a TV show called tailspin.

An animated cartoon that used a story line that was similar to the old Barnes stories and included a a few interesting airplanes.

I remember watching it with the grand kids quite a few years ago. It was a hoot.

Might get a few ideas there until you can find a few original drawings.

There are a few places out there where you can find the template files for fold up style models. They could be scaled up.

Here are three scans from the April 1937 issue of Air Trails that I scanned. I don't have any other scanned issues, though. I think these are all the Barnes planes illustrated in the issue. The first two pages of the story had an illustration of an airliner falling apart, but I don't think it's a "Barnes" plane. Hope this helps.

If you feel nostalgic about Bill Barnes, perhaps you would also enjoy David Dodge's whimsical faux history pics. Also faux future history, fantasy, etc. Unfortunately, Flickr won't let me do a proper link, so I can't show you directly without stealing David's images.

Do you know the story behind the third picture? Is that a dolly he's taking off with? It has a float and wings though.

It's part of the airplane. Check out the drawing and pictures in this post:

If you really want to read the story, I can send it to you. A bunch of large files, though, and the writing could be a LOT better. Very clunky, if you know what I mean.

Okay thanks. The drawing explains it. I can't speak for the writing, but visually, the creator had a good imagination.
