Armin Scimitar Clone
This will be a small Blog on my current project a 60" Armin Scimitar Clone. Thanks go out to Bill Evans for his wonderful designs.
Specs on the 60"
60" Wing span. Fuse is 20"x2x2 ( Tapered to .5" at rear ). Wings are 8" at tip and 12 12" at root. Elevons are 30"x1.75. Motor is a Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 2836-1500. Servos are x2 Turnigy MG90S Metal Gear Servo. Orange RX receiver. Hobbyking SS Series 40-50A ESC. TURNIGY 3A UBEC. 2200 Mah Battery.
The 40" version made a weeks worth of successful flights till a control horn ripped loose after I started flying it a bit more extremely ( Freak accident as I ca my horns in ). After the crash I decided not to repair but to go bigger instead. The plane flew very well and hooked me immediately. The maneuverability and flight characteristics put my swept wing planes to shame.
Here is my maiden flight and the flight right after it. I did go in on the maiden due to my cg being back to far. A quick adjust and I was back in the air.
Here are some pics of the 40" and the 60" build in progress.

Scimitar Clone Build
Like the simple build of the design. Looks to be a great little wing project I may want to copy one day. Thanks for sharing this. I am also a fan of the Armin Wing concepts.
