My FMS BF-109

Well I started working on my FMS BF-109 Messerschmitt. Not sure exactly what Livery I'm going to do yet? so for now I'm leaving it in the winter stock scheme

I noticed right away that the inboard flap sections do not close well and I have one that is slightly warped. Also the linkage between them is preventing the outboard sections from lining up with the ailerons trailing edge properly, It's just slightly off and drooped.

Excellent work on the exhaust stubs!
Is the pilot from Hobbyking? Does it fit in the cabin or is it too large?

Here is the finished re-paint of the origional stock livery scheme.

I used both "Model Master" enamal and {"Tamiya" acrylic (Just the smoke color)}

Model Master paints: Thinned and Airbrushed..about 70/30 paint to laquer thinner
Colors used are:
RLM 61 & flat black (shading) for the cockpit (1 bottle each color)
RLM 65 for the bottom (3 bottles...4 would be better)
RLM 80 & 81 over Flat White for the top camo pattern (2 bottles each color (RLM 80 & 81)...3 would be better and 4 (bottles of flat white for the base color)

Tamiya Acrylic Smoke (1 large bottle) for the weathering, smoke effects, panel lines...etc.

All sprayed over completely with Krylon Clear flat spray (1 can) about 2-3 coats

I also use a soft #2 & #4 Lead pencil and a black Sharpie pen for some of the panel lines... (before I spary the "Krylon" Flat Clear coat on)

Note: always better to get at least 1 extra bottle of each color for later touch ups if needed...which is alway the case

I followed a few of the tips that Rich mentioned in his video of this palne and added a few additional ones myself that will assist in the cooling.

I removed the a thin foam barrier that is just above the motor mount which allows air from the motor compartment to get directed directly over the battery tray in the nose of the plave which is where my battery fits best and gives good CG and not actually under the stock velcro strap further back. Also trimmed at a 45 degree angle some of the foam from the edges on the inside to allow air to enter the motor compartment better

I also replaced the stock 65A ESC with an 85A ESC based on the recomendation in Rich's video, using a Gens-Ace 4000 60-120c lipo, I am pulling nearly 75 -80A. On an Turnigy 4000 40C lipo I am only pulling 55A

Rudder Decoration

Just finished the Rudder decoration...still need to add the kill markings. Also did a little rivet detailing arround the canopy and some on the bottom with my Sharpie Marker...lol

I use a flat clear spray paint (krylon or Testors) in light coats (about 3 of them) to help seal the sharpie marker from running or coming off.
