Those razor planes do a nice job, but they sure create a mess. LOL

ohyea they do. But this was my first time using one. So i took it easy not to go overboard and plane off to much. So i took my short and long sanding bars and just sand the rest.

Also will it be ok if the TE isnt 100% same shape all the way across? Its pretty dam close but for being a noob im sure its not 100% I think its close and has the shape of the air foil.

Today im going to be tackling sheeting the LE / ribs of the wing. 2 of ribs where the aileron servos mount dont have cutouts or notch for where the sheeting lines up all the rest do. Will that make a big difference in the end or should i do something to combat that?

Do your best on the TE, and you'll be fine.

For the LE, lay your sheeting up on the wing, and see how it looks If it looks bad, you'll have to make adjustments before you glue it on.

well the sheeting will be fine on the wing i lined it up. I was just curious as to y it doesnt have the step on 4 ribs of the whole wing. just the 2 for the servo mounts on each side. Or where the servo rails glue to

Moveing right along! Just when i figured out what was going on in your picture, as i scrolled down to reply to you, i saw that you figured it out Never built a contender, but its on my bucket list. It was a very popular plane when it came out. Your doing fine, keep it up....Gene

I'm with Gene. It looks like that area will be sheeted with the servo access panel.

Nice work !

ok got both LE sheeted and sanded really good. sheeted the servo holes. and cut off the jig tabs and installed the spar bar supports. Also when i removed the wing from the plans and flipped it over the TE support jigs would not hold the wing. The outter two would fit but not the center one. It wouldnt rest on the center one like the outside ones. Is this a cause of concern for the wing. The wing looks straight and the sheeting has no wrinkles or dips in it. ???

As long as the wing looks straight you'll be fine. I'm thinking the center section is going to get sheeted also ( where the two wing halves join)......Gene

yea they get sheeted and i sheeted the one side last night, one thing im worried about is the wing bolts since the wing gets sheeted wont i crush the balsa with the sheeting and should I install blind nuts instead of trying to tap out the wood with a tap like it says for better support and longevity of the model. should i reinforce the top side of the sheeting since the wing bolt pannel doesnt side flush with the top side sheeting. wont it just crush the sheeting??

Assuming that you are using 1/4-20 nylon bolts to mount the wing, tapping, and hardening the grooves, will be fine.

If you are not comfortable doing that, blind nuts are a suitable alternative.

A lite ply reinforcement scabbed to the balsa sheeting, should prevent any crushing.

Somewhere, I purchased some nylon, 1/4" washers, that I use to do the same thing. I just glue them to the covering.
