How to setup a MinimOSD board

This video tutorial covers the tools needed to update a MinimOSD with the MinimOSD-extra firmware. I also go through the configuration tool and show you a few of the features that the developers have put in our hands.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am having a hard time finding the exact minimosd you used in the video but found a couple on ebay, do you mind taking a look?

All 3 of these are different, which is where I'm starting to wonder which to get:

Question on the following OSD:
http://witespyquad.gostorego.com/minimosd.html
http://rctimer.com/index.php?gOo=goo...2&productname=

The one sold by Whitespyquad is loaded with KVOSD firmware

RCTIMER states:
"MAVLink-OSD with switching DC/DC stepdown powersupply to maximize efficiency on power system. No more heating problems when using this OSD board. It can be only use two way power source."

I have ordered the Openpilot Revolution board is on its way and I will be loading APM onto it.
My setup will be running 4S (14.8V) lipo.

-Does anyone know the difference between MinimOSD by Witespyquad and the one sold by RCTIMER?

-Which OSD should I get?

-Looking for recommendations to help step down the voltage from the 4S pack to protect my electronics.

-Would the Full MAVLink protocol support be unique to RCTimer only or would the whitespyquad version be able to achieve the same?

Thanks

If you shop at witespy, treat him like an international vendor: use paypal so you have protection, be prepared to wait a month, be prepared to receive the wrong item and be prepared to have zero/extremely poor customer service.

Ebay has them in the U.S. for about $20. Just buy whichever and flash them to the osd you want to use with the ftdi.

A great step down is here: http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...oducts_id=1956

or you can just use a cheap ubec to drop down to 5v or a nice one: http://www.readymaderc.com/store/ind...oducts_id=1297

Hoping some one can help me. My MinimOSD only displays "NO MAV DATA" on my monitor.

I have my APM 2.6 and my MininOSD completed configured with APM:Plane and MinimOSD Extra. The Flash, Character Set load and screen configurations went perfectly with my OSD.

I check the pin out on my APM board and the OSD. All are correct. I tried swapping the RX and TX connections to no effect.

Any suggestions?

Hello,

I have a question, maybe it's stupid but is it possible to connect directly a GPS on the miniOSD Board or you must have a flight controller like Naza32 connected to the GPS?

MinimOSD / using most firmwares/ requires data to be delivered as Mavlink protocol stream. Gpses do not sent such a data, so it will not work.
