I'm new to winding motors also, but will try.
Got wire 0.18mm + this motor to try
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=22182

just hope it will be fine.

Is this good "proper" winding" for those gimbal motors.
DLRK wiring diagram connected in star.
Which will look like this ?

Thanks guys for all the info on the motors.
Even after all that, I guess I'm still a bit confused.
Is the goal for motors to get as low a KV rating as possible?
Or is it to get into a target resistance rating?

How do you know on initially taking a look at a motor if it's a good candidate?
I know the more poles and magnets...the better (I think).
I also think I gathered that the lower the original KV rating of the motor...the better. (?)

Maybe it's all so new with this application that some of these questions are just going to have to wait until more testing is done on various motors and windings.
Or maybe I just have to re-read everything and let it sink in another layer in my aging brain.

I'm learning tons more about motors than I ever knew before.

Thanks.
Brent

It's more than I would like to know!
Can I just have it ready sent to my house door please?
I just want to fly and film, stable as I can for a price I can afford!
Is it going to happen?
Hope so!

I commend the trailblazers here! We're all thankful for your time and effort. Looking forward to seeing where we'll be in a few months I think I'll check back in 6 months to see where we're at. By then there would be quite a few proven BL gimbals fitted with big DSLRs flying around.

Hi guys,

I am a noob and slightly confused here! This thread is about a gimbal and a gimbal control board (not sure what to call it)?! The AutQuad obviously is able to operate a gimbal by itself, but there is also the option of hooking up an extra gimbal control unit?! Right?!

Sorry for asking "funny" questions...

thanks,

G

Interesting motor, let us know how it goes.

I use this winding scheme:

When you wind the motors, pay attention to the model that Sebastian showed. The wires need to be wound in certain direction around the stator arms, to make them either north or south pole when energized.

On the first one I made, I started on the green phase the wrong way, and the motor did not turn....

So to understand green phase.

tooth number 5ccw , 6cw , 11ccw , 12cw yes.

ccw = counterclockwise
cw = clockwise

Yes, the topic here is Alexmos controllers, gimbals and motors from Viacopter, Flyduino and E-copter.

You need the controller, since it is what drives the motors. The controller relies on a MPU6050 gyro/accel chip for positional feedback from the camera.

The gimbal controller can work in a standalone configuration, but can also be hooked up to the gimbal output of your FC, to increase the position accuracy of the gimbal. You can also control Pitch and Pan (no Pan driver, yet) from an RC channel.

All the videos on page 1 was shot with the controller standalone and not hooked to the Autoquad FC.

The system will work with any FC that I am aware of on the current market.

No, tooth number 6 and 11 is clockwise. This is where I went wrong too...

I have updated page 1 with relevant thread-shortcuts to motor explanations from Jack and other relevant info.
