I'm glad you confirmed what I said in the other thread - it does not matter if the lens is NOT exactly on roll axis. As you say - its the copter which moves and not the lens/camera.. therefore this is not that important.

I've also come to the conclusion meanwhile that the distribution of weight on the gimbal is the only important factor. For the gimbal correction it doesn't matter where the axis of the lens is since the gimbal itself doesn't/shouldn't move - but the carrying aircraft.

The gimbal has to look straight to where it's pointed at. A centered lens surely helps to get good footage but it's not a prerequisite for a good stabilization...

Will the gopro gimbal be good to fit on a stock DJI 550 frame with extention legs?

I would think it would fit the quadframe legs. They are fairly big and available in 155mm, 200mm, 215mm and larger now as well. I'll be testing the gimbal on an F550 with those legs as soon as I can get one as I'm the Canadian reseller for the quadframe.com products.

Hi!
I wanted to show you my new camera gimbal for Sony Nex-5N with 16mm F2.8 lens.
The entire structure is in carbon fiber 2.0mm and aluminum, making it light and stiff!
How do you like it?

brushless gimbal (0 min 42 sec)

@gondoflier,
Now engines are original. I have to scroll through them yet and do a test on the fly. To 10 February should end. Also designed a gimbal for gopro and DSLR. Everything in the testing phase.

Your gimbal looks great. Did you use the 60 turns of .2 ga wire on the rewind of the stators?

That's great. Simple, light, stiff. What motors are those?
Do you have a controller board or are you just building in advance in anticipation of getting one?
Are there controller boards available to purchase anywhere currently for those who want to make their own mount?

If the gimbal is in balance that helps a lot, that the gimbal has to move the cam around itīs optic center is a forum-myth (like many others) in the internet.

+1 exactly... I'm happy that I'm not alone

Ok, but if you'll be offering yours for sale you should open up your own thread.

It's been getting very confusing with all those different projects in another thread so Jussi decided to open his own.

Please don't deviate it! Thx.
