SC10 4x4 - 32 Spur gear / pinion selection??
Hello my fellow radioheads,
I am in the research phase of building a new SC10 4x4 Short Course truck. I have been out of the hobby for about 10 years so there are things I don't know or remember. I am looking for some clarity for my new build's gearing.
I watched several YouTube videos on the truck and I hear everyonr saying use 32 tooth spur gear but I am not getting the information on a pinion.
I am planing a Reedy 540-SL 3900kV brushless motor but Reedy doesn't provide any information on number of turns etc. I don't want to have a motor gear ratio that cooks the solder off and I don't need a rock crawler torque set-up either, just a good center line racing set-up for use at my local track.
So can someone help me out here??

The best bet is going to see what guy's are running at your track. I would check the manual for your final gear ratio is I would start with about one tooth up or down and see how it goes.
This is a link to some of the factory drivers set-ups Maybe this might help for a starting point.

Are you sure they said 32 tooth and not 32 pitch?
Here's the manual with parts listings:
The stock spur is either 32 pitch 62 teeth or 48 pitch 93 teeth (both are apparently in the kit). The RTR version runs a 62 tooth (32 pitch) spur with a 14 tooth pinion.
The RTR uses a 550 3500kv motor (longer rotor means a bit more torque), so you'll want to drop a couple teeth from the RTR gearing to the motor you want to run.
